Product description

This clear plastic bottle with a capacity of 150 ml and a 24/410 neck finish is designed for filling liquid and semi-liquid products where the contents should be visible at a glance. Clear PET shows the colour, any tint or sediment, so it suits toners, facial lotions, micellar waters, body oils, shower gels, smaller-size shampoos and liquid soap. The same volume is also used for samples and travel sizes of larger products.

The bottle is made of PET, is lightweight and does not break if dropped. This is useful for shipping parcels as well as for products that the customer uses in the shower or takes travelling. It is supplied without closure, in packs of 91, so that you can choose the closure according to the type of contents and the way of dispensing. The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legal requirements. You will find the declaration of conformity with the product.

What the bottle is suitable for

  • Water-based and alcohol-based products – toners, hydrosols, facial lotions, refreshing sprays and cleaning solutions where you want the clarity of the contents to be visible.
  • Rinse-off products – shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps and washing foams in a smaller size that is used up quickly.
  • Oils and oil-based serums – body and massage oils, where the clear packaging shows the colour of the oil.
  • Samples and travel sizes – 150 ml is a common volume for a sample or a pack that fits into a cosmetic bag.
  • Technical use – the bottle is of cosmetic and technical grade, so it is also suitable for solutions and auxiliary preparations used in production.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. Physically it can hold more, up to the neck, but this space is a reserve for the closure, pump or sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal 150 ml, not to the brim. With a sprayer or pump, also allow for the volume taken up by the dip tube.

Closure and 24/410 neck finish

The 24/410 neck finish is one of the common threads on cosmetic bottles. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation before a larger production run, especially with thicker gels and with products prone to foaming.

Good to know

Before the first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in the packaging shortens the stability of water-based products, even when they are properly preserved.

PET is not intended for hot filling. Let emulsions, gels and products prepared hot cool to approximately room temperature before filling, otherwise the wall may deform.

Clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Light-sensitive products, such as oils prone to oxidation or some plant extracts, are better kept in amber or blue glass. If you fill them into this bottle, store them away from direct light.

Undiluted essential oils, fragrance compositions at higher concentrations and some solvents can damage or cloud PET. For anhydrous products with a higher proportion of fragrance, we recommend testing one bottle for several weeks and only then filling the whole batch.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused as long as it is not scratched or cloudy. At the end of its life it belongs in the separate collection for plastics as PET. Before discarding, rinse it and separate it from the closure if that is made of a different material.

Frequently asked questions

Is the clear 150 ml PET bottle suitable for essential oils?
Not for undiluted essential oils, but yes for finished products with a usual proportion of fragrance. Concentrated essential oils and some solvents can gradually damage, cloud or soften PET. Massage oils, body oils and water-based products with a low fragrance content work in it without problems. For more strongly scented anhydrous products, we recommend testing one bottle.
Does the clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through. It is therefore suitable for products that are not light-sensitive or are used up quickly, such as shower gels, toners and liquid soaps. Store oils prone to oxidation, extracts and light-sensitive active ingredients in this bottle in the dark, or choose amber or blue glass.
How much does the 150 ml bottle actually hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal 150 ml, although it can hold more up to the brim. The space above this level is a reserve for the closure, the dip tube of the pump or sprayer, and the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it to the neck, you risk overflow when closing and problems with dispensing.
Can the PET bottle be filled with a hot emulsion?
No, let the contents cool before filling. PET softens at higher temperatures and the wall of the bottle may deform, or the bottle may be drawn inwards as the contents cool. Fill creams, gels and emulsions prepared hot only after they have cooled to approximately room temperature.
What closure suits a bottle with a 24/410 neck finish?
Any closure with the same 24/410 neck type. You will find them in the Handymade range both separately and as ready-made bottle + closure combinations. The choice depends on the contents: thicker gels and shampoos dispense well with a flip top cap, water-based products with a sprayer, and oils or serums with a pump. If you are making your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your formulation.
Can I wash the plastic bottle and use it again?
Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, the bottle is suitable for reuse. Let it dry completely before the next filling and check that it is not scratched or cloudy and that the thread is not damaged. Residues of the previous product, especially fragrance, may not be completely removable from the plastic.
