Product description

Trigger sprayer made of polypropylene with a 28/410 neck turns a bottle into a practical dispenser for water-based and thin liquid preparations. It is useful anywhere the contents need to be applied evenly over a larger area or from a greater distance: on household cleaning and disinfecting products, air fresheners, plant preparations, and also on cosmetic body or hair sprays in larger volumes. The white finish looks neutral and makes it easy to choose a matching label and bottle colour.

According to the technical documentation, the packaging material is suitable for contact with cosmetic products and at the same time meets the technical quality required for household preparations. With a single type of closure you can thus cover several kinds of products in your range or workshop.

How it differs from a common sprayer

  • Comfortable dispensing of large volumes – the trigger is operated with the whole palm, not a single finger, so you can spray an entire kitchen counter or a larger piece of textile without tiring.
  • Larger dose per stroke – compared with small sprayers it delivers considerably more contents at once, which is desirable for cleaning and textile preparations. The exact dose is given in the parameters.
  • Long suction tube – the sprayer is designed for bottles of larger volumes; with a lower bottle the tube can be shortened to the required length.
  • Polypropylene – a lightweight and durable material that withstands common water-based solutions, surfactants and alcohol in the concentrations usual in household preparations.

What preparations it is suitable for

The trigger sprayer works reliably with water-based and thin liquids: all-purpose cleaners, vinegar and baking-soda solutions, window and surface preparations, disinfecting sprays based on ethanol, textile and room fresheners with hydrosols, "sea salt" type hair sprays, body mists in large packaging or a spray for houseplants.

It is not suitable for thick gels, viscous oils or preparations with undissolved particles. Thick contents are drawn in poorly and the nozzle clogs, while solid particles can damage it. Oily contents can be sprayed, but the nozzle disperses them into coarse droplets rather than a fine mist. It is advisable to verify the long-term behaviour of the plastic with the specific oil.

If you want to spray an emulsion or a preparation with a thickener, make it significantly thinner than a regular cream or gel. Before filling an entire batch, test whether the sprayer draws it in and disperses it evenly.

What is good to know when filling and using

The sprayer fits onto a bottle with a 28/410 neck. Bottles with this neck type as well as ready-made bottle + sprayer combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination we recommend verifying the thread seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Fill the bottle only up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The space above the liquid level is needed for the tube and the body of the sprayer. An overfilled bottle overflows when screwed shut and the preparation gets onto the thread.

Before the first filling, rinse the sprayer with clean water, or with spirit, and let it dry. After filling, press the trigger a few times without liquid until the tube and pump fill with the contents and the sprayer begins to dispense evenly.

For preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils, solvents or for strongly acidic or alkaline cleaners, we recommend testing the sprayer with the finished preparation for several weeks before putting it into production. Polypropylene is a chemically resistant material, but concentrated fragrance components can over time affect the seal or the operation of the mechanism.

Do not leave the sprayer attached for a long time to a bottle with a preparation that dries out or crystallises (salt or baking-soda solutions, some cleaners). Residues in the nozzle will clog it. Before a period of disuse, rinse the sprayer with clean water.

The sprayer can be reused. After the contents are used up, rinse it with water; when changing the preparation, thoroughly clean the tube as well. At the end of its service life it belongs in sorted plastic collection; the material code is given in the parameters.

Frequently asked questions

What bottles is the 28/410 trigger sprayer suitable for?
For all bottles with a 28/410 type neck, that is with a 28 mm neck diameter and a 410 type thread. The neck type is given in the parameters for each bottle, so it is enough to compare the value. For bottles from another range we recommend checking the thread seal with a filled bottle laid on its side.
Can the tube of the trigger sprayer be shortened?
Yes, the suction tube can readily be shortened with a sharp knife or scissors. The sprayer comes with a long tube for bottles of larger volumes. With a lower bottle, cut the tube so that it ends just above the bottom and bends slightly. A tube that is too long twists inside the bottle and draws in air.
Is the trigger sprayer suitable for oil-based preparations?
Only to a limited extent. Thin oils can be sprayed, but the nozzle disperses them into coarser droplets rather than the fine mist you know from water-based sprays. Thick oils and butters are not drawn in at all. For body and hair oils we rather recommend a pump or a bottle with a dropper.
Can I use the trigger sprayer for disinfection with ethanol?
Yes, polypropylene withstands solutions of ethanol and isopropanol in the concentrations common in disinfecting preparations. With a higher alcohol content it is worth watching whether the operation of the trigger or the seal changes over time. Such preparations also evaporate quickly, so after use always leave the bottle with the sprayer fitted.
Why does the trigger sprayer not spray after filling?
Most often because the tube and pump are not yet filled with liquid. Press the trigger several times in a row until the contents are drawn up and the stream steadies. If the sprayer still does not spray, check that the tube reaches below the liquid level, that it is not twisted and that the nozzle is not clogged with dried preparation.
How is the trigger sprayer cleaned when changing the preparation?
Immerse the sprayer's tube in clean warm water and spray it through several times until clean water comes out. For residues of oil or fragrance components, use water with a drop of dish soap and then clean water again. Finally, spray the sprayer empty to push out the remaining water, and let it dry.
