Product description

White dropper with tamper-evident ring, 57 mm

A dropper with a tamper-evident ring for bottles with an 18/415 neck dispenses liquid preparations precisely drop by drop and at the same time shows at a glance that the bottle has not yet been opened. It is particularly suited to facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and concentrated active ingredients that are applied in small amounts. The white cap with a white rubber bulb looks neutral and pairs well with amber, blue and clear glass.

The pipette tube is made of glass, the bulb of silicone and the threaded cap of polypropylene (PP). During normal use the bottle's contents therefore touch the glass tube, not plastic, which is an advantage with oil formulations and blends containing essential oils. The tamper-evident ring separates on first opening, so the customer of the finished product can see that the packaging is intact.

What the dropper is suited for

  • Facial and oil serums – drop dispensing lets you take a few drops without spilling and without the fingers touching the contents.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – the glass tube tolerates blends containing ethanol well, and drop dispensing is standard for such preparations.
  • Concentrated active ingredients and essential oil blends – for ingredients used in small amounts, a dropper is more practical than a spray or a pump.
  • Finished cosmetic products for sale – the tamper-evident ring protects against unauthorised opening, which is an expected standard when selling serums and oils.

The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products. Food use is not declared for this cap, so use it only for cosmetic preparations.

Choosing the bottle and the right length

The dropper fits any bottle with an 18/415 neck. The neck type is always stated in the bottle's specifications. The length of the glass tube also matters: it should reach just above the bottom so that the remaining contents can be drawn out, but it must not rest against the bottom. You will find the dropper length in the name and in the specifications; when choosing, simply compare it with the height of the selected bottle. Bear in mind that bottles are quoted by nominal volume, the total volume to the brim is larger, and this reserve is taken up precisely by the submerged dropper tube. Ready-made bottle + dropper combinations with a verified length are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.

Dispensing depends on the viscosity of the contents. Thin oils and water-based serums drip evenly, while thicker gels or serums with a higher proportion of thickener are drawn up more slowly and flow from the tube more as a stream than as drops. Before filling a larger batch, test the dispensing on a single bottle.

Good to know

Before the first filling, take the dropper apart into the cap with the bulb and the glass tube, wash it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. The glass tube is fragile; handle it carefully when assembling and tightening the cap.

The silicone bulb is elastic and durable, but with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents it may soften or change in volume. For this reason do not store a bottle fitted with the dropper upside down, and test blends with a high proportion of essential oils on a single sample over several weeks.

Reuse is possible if the dropper is thoroughly washed and disinfected. The tamper-evident ring is not restored after the first opening; on subsequent fillings the cap serves as an ordinary dropper without a first-opening indicator.

Recycling: the dropper is made up of several materials (glass, silicone, PP); take it apart before disposal and sort the individual parts separately.

Transport and store bottles fitted with a dropper upright and secure them against tipping over. With a bottle lying down the contents are in permanent contact with the bulb, and with thin oils or alcohol extracts there is a risk of seepage.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles does the white dropper with a tamper-evident ring fit?
It fits all bottles with an 18/415 neck type. The neck type is stated in the specifications of every bottle in the Handymade range. Besides the thread, the length of the glass tube also needs to match the height of the bottle so that the tube reaches just above the bottom and the entire contents can be drawn out.
What does the tamper-evident ring on the dropper mean?
The tamper-evident ring is a protective feature that separates when the cap is first unscrewed. The user can thus immediately see whether the bottle has already been opened. It is intended mainly for finished products for sale, where intact packaging is expected. After the first opening the ring is not restored and the dropper continues to work as an ordinary cap.
Is the dropper suitable for oil serums with essential oils?
Yes, it is suitable with a normal proportion of essential oils in a finished serum. The contents touch the glass tube, which is resistant to oils and essential components. With blends containing a high concentration of essential oils or with solvents we recommend testing the behaviour of the silicone bulb on a sample, because prolonged contact may affect it.
How is the dropper cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, the dropper can be reused. Take it apart into the cap with the bulb and the glass tube, wash it with warm soapy water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Thorough drying is important; residual water would not dissolve in an oil preparation and could affect its stability.
When is a dropper more suitable than a pump?
A dropper is more suitable when the preparation is dispensed in small amounts drop by drop and is thin to medium in viscosity, for example serums, oils or tinctures. A pump is more practical for thicker emulsions and creams, where drop dispensing is slow. With a dropper, bear in mind that the contents are briefly in contact with the air at each opening.
