Product description

White dropper with safety ring is a closure for glass bottles with an 18/415 neck that dispenses liquid cosmetic products precisely drop by drop. It is particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and concentrated active ingredients, where a small and repeatable amount per use matters. The white cap with a silicone bulb and glass tube is complemented by a safety ring that detaches upon first opening, so the customer can immediately see that the bottle has not been opened.

What the dropper consists of and how it works

  • White PP cap – screws onto the bottle neck, holds the entire dropper in place and seals the contents against spilling.
  • Silicone bulb – squeezing and releasing draws liquid into the tube, squeezing again releases it drop by drop. Silicone retains its shape even with frequent use.
  • Glass tube – guides liquid from the bottle to the tip. Glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, making it suitable for oils, essential oils and alcohol-based tinctures.
  • Safety ring – detaches when the cap is first unscrewed and remains on the bottle neck. It serves as visible proof of first opening, which is particularly valuable when selling finished products.

Which products is it suitable for

The dropper makes most sense for products with low to medium viscosity that are dispensed in small amounts: facial and hair serums, blends of vegetable and essential oils, nail and cuticle oil serums, tinctures, concentrates of active ingredients and samples. Thick emulsions, high-viscosity gels or products with particles will not pass through the dropper, or will dispense unevenly.

The length of 84 mm is chosen so that the glass tube reaches almost to the bottom of a bottle of corresponding height. Only then can the last remaining content be drawn up. When choosing, compare the length of the dropper with the height of the bottle you intend to use. Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dropper behaviour with your specific formulation.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Once the glass tube is inserted, it displaces some of the contents upward, and without a headspace in the neck, liquid would overflow when closing.

What is good to know

Preparation before first filling. Before use, we recommend rinsing the glass tube with clean water, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. The silicone bulb only needs to be wiped on the outside; prolonged soaking in solvents is not necessary.

Hygiene during use. The tip of the tube should not touch the skin or fingers. With each draw, some air and potential contaminants re-enter the bottle. Water-based and water-oil products in a dropper bottle therefore require effective preservation just as they do in any other container. Anhydrous oil blends are less demanding in this regard, but it is also advisable to protect them from oxidation with an antioxidant.

Material compatibility. Glass and PP tolerate oils, ethanol and common active ingredients. The silicone bulb does not come into direct contact with the contents during storage, but it does come into contact with the liquid and its vapours during drawing. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or other strong solvents, we therefore recommend monitoring the bulb's behaviour over time.

Repeated use. The dropper can be washed, disinfected and reused; however, the safety ring works only once. When refilling, it will no longer indicate first opening, but the dropper will continue to seal and dispense normally.

Contact with cosmetics. The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the applicable requirements. A declaration of conformity is available with the product. This closure is not declared for food contact.

Recycling. The dropper consists of multiple materials. Where possible, separate the glass tube from the plastic cap and silicone bulb and dispose of each part separately according to its material.

The glass tube is thin and may break if dropped or forcibly inserted into a narrow neck. Fit the dropper straight and without lateral pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles are suitable for the white dropper with safety ring 84 mm?
It is suitable for glass bottles with an 18/415 neck whose height corresponds to the length of the dropper. The tube should reach almost to the bottom so that the entire contents can be drawn up. With a taller bottle, some product will remain out of reach; with a shorter bottle, the tube will rest on the bottom and the dropper cannot be tightened properly. Suitable bottles and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range.
How does the safety ring on the dropper work?
The safety ring detaches from the cap when the dropper is first unscrewed and remains on the bottle neck. It is a simple tamper-evident seal showing the customer that the product has not previously been opened. It works only once. When refilling, it no longer serves its purpose, but the dropper continues to seal and dispense normally.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
Yes, the glass tube and PP cap tolerate essential oils and alcohol-based tinctures without problems. For blends with a very high proportion of essential oils, we recommend monitoring the behaviour of the silicone bulb over time, as vapours and contact during drawing can affect silicone over the long term. At the concentrations typically found in serums and oil blends, this risk does not manifest in practice.
Can the dropper dispense a thick serum or gel?
The dropper reliably dispenses liquids with low to medium viscosity. Thick serums, gels and emulsions are drawn up slowly, the tube tends to clog and the drops are uneven. If the product is thicker, consider a pump or jar instead. For borderline viscosities, a test with the finished product before deciding on packaging is helpful.
How do you clean the dropper before first use and when refilling?
Rinse the glass tube with clean water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Wipe the cap and silicone bulb on the outside with a disinfectant solution. Avoid drawing water or disinfectant into the bulb, as residues would enter the product during subsequent use. All parts must be dry before filling.
Why is a dropper bottle not filled to the brim?
Because the glass tube, once inserted, takes up some of the volume and pushes liquid upward. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, which allows for headspace in the neck, not to the total capacity right to the brim. If overfilled, contents will overflow when closing, contaminate the thread and the dropper will then seal less effectively.
