Product description
Black dropper with safety lock, 59 mm is a dropper insert for bottles with an 18/415 neck finish. It is designed for precise drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid products – facial serums, oil blends, tinctures or diluted essential oils. Squeezing the silicone bulb draws the contents into the glass tube, which is then released drop by drop. This allows clean dispensing without spilling and without unnecessary hand contact with the contents.
The cap features a safety lock that prevents accidental opening of the bottle. It is therefore particularly suitable for concentrated products – essential oil blends, alcoholic tinctures or serums with a higher share of active ingredients.
What the dropper consists of
- Glass tube – the part that comes into direct contact with the contents. Glass is chemically resistant, does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils and does not stain.
- Silicone bulb – the flexible part used to draw up and dispense the contents. Silicone retains its elasticity even with repeated squeezing.
- Black plastic cap – carries the 18/415 thread and the safety lock. The black colour complements amber, blue and black glass.
The dropper is suitable for use with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product. Suitability for contact with food has not been declared, so we recommend using it for cosmetic and technical purposes only.
Use and dosing
The dropper is designed for liquid and low-viscosity contents. It works well with oil serums, carrier oil blends, hydrolates with active ingredients, aqueous serums with hyaluronic acid at lower concentrations and with alcoholic solutions. Thick gel serums and emulsions are difficult to draw up and the dose is imprecise – for such products a pump or jar is more suitable.
The tube length is chosen so that, with the right bottle, it reaches close to the bottom and allows the remaining contents to be drawn up. When selecting a bottle, compare the dropper length with the bottle height listed in the parameters. A tube that is too short will not reach the remaining product; one that is too long will rest on the bottom and may be damaged when closing.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The space above the nominal volume is taken up by the dropper tube and by the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim will overflow once the dropper is inserted.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – disassemble the dropper, rinse the glass tube with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, rinse the bulb and allow everything to dry completely. Residual moisture would dilute anhydrous products and could promote microbial growth.
- Repeated use – the glass part can be cleaned and reused. Inspect the bulb regularly; if it loses elasticity or changes shape, it will no longer draw up reliably.
- Hygiene during dispensing – the tube should not touch skin or other surfaces. This prevents contamination from being introduced back into the bottle, which is especially important for aqueous products with a lower preservative content.
- Sorting – this is a composite packaging made of glass, plastic and silicone. Before disposal, separate the parts and sort them by material.
Bottles with an 18/415 neck and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. When combining components yourself, we recommend verifying the seal, the tube length relative to the bottle height and the behaviour of the cap with the specific formulation.
The dropper is not intended for thick products or products with undissolved particles. Solid particles can clog the tube and damage the bulb.
