Product description

Plastic jar, clear with white lid, 200 ml is a ready-made combination of a PET jar and a white screw lid, supplied as a single packaged set ready for filling. Suitable for creams, body butters, scrubs, masks or bath salts — products that are scooped from the container with fingers or a spatula. Thanks to the wide opening, it is easy to fill, clean out and empty all the way to the bottom.

Clear PET shows the contents, colour and texture of the product, so the customer can see what they are buying and you can check the amount in the container at a glance. The material is lightweight and shatterproof, which is appreciated when shipping parcels as well as when using in the bathroom or on the go. The white polypropylene lid with a foam sealing insert covers the contents, helps reduce drying out and provides a flat surface for a label or print.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Both the jar and the lid also have certification for direct contact with food, so the entire set is approved for home food products as well, such as honey, jams or dry mixes. The declaration of conformity and documentation are listed with the product.

What the jar with lid is suitable for

  • Creams and body butters – the 200 ml volume corresponds to a standard body care packaging and the wide opening makes it easier to scoop thicker textures.
  • Scrubs and bath salts – loose and coarse-grained products are easy to fill and scoop from the jar, and the contents are clearly visible through the clear wall.
  • Masks and balms – clay masks, anhydrous balms or solid massage products that are dosed as needed and do not have to be in a dispenser.
  • Food and home products – spices, dried herbs, herbal salts or confectionery.
  • Samples and test batches – the transparent container allows changes in colour or phase separation to be monitored during stability testing.

Nominal and total volume

With jars you will come across two volume figures. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is intended for during normal filling, and this is why the jar is labelled as 200 ml. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the opening. The difference between them forms a margin for the lid with the sealing insert and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example during transport or in a warm bathroom.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filled all the way to the opening, the product gets into the thread and the seal when the lid is screwed on, causing the container to seal less effectively and the label to get soiled more easily.

What is good to know when working with the set

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the jar and lid, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in the container shortens the stability of especially anhydrous and fat-based products. The same procedure is recommended for every repeated use. The lid with sealing insert can withstand normal washing; if the insert is significantly damaged, it is better to replace the lid.

PET is not intended for hot filling. Allow creams, butters and balms to cool before filling to a temperature at which they are no longer hot to the touch, otherwise there is a risk of deformation of the wall or base.

For products with a high content of essential oils, fragrance compounds or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the container by testing with the specific formulation. In such cases, the plastic may lose its clear appearance or absorb the fragrance.

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Products with oxidation-sensitive oils, vitamins or natural pigments should be stored away from direct sunlight, or alternatively an opaque container should be chosen for them.

The jar has a straight side wall suitable for a label, and the lid offers a surface for a circular label or print. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.

For recycling, the jar belongs to PET plastics and the lid to polypropylene, so please separate them before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 200 ml plastic jar with white lid suitable for food?
Yes, both the jar and the lid have certification for direct contact with food, so the entire set is approved for food use as well. It is suitable for honey, jams, pastes, dry mixes, spices or dried herbs. It is also declared as suitable for cosmetics, so the same container works for cream as well as home food products. The declaration of conformity can be found with the product.
Does the clear PET jar protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. The advantage is that the product is visible; the disadvantage is the sensitivity of the contents to sunlight. For creams and balms with oxidation-sensitive oils, vitamins or natural pigments, we recommend storage away from direct light, or alternatively an opaque container.
How much cream fits in the 200 ml jar?
The jar is designed for 200 ml of product, which is its nominal volume for normal filling. The physical volume to the brim is slightly larger; the difference is a margin for the lid with sealing insert and for the expansion of the contents during temperature changes. The jar is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, so that the container seals properly and the product does not get into the thread.
Can the jar with lid be reused and how should it be cleaned?
Yes, both the jar and the lid can be reused. Before the next filling, wash them, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely so that no water remains in the container. Check the foam sealing insert in the lid. If it is damaged or has absorbed the previous product, replace the lid.
Can I pour hot cream or balm into the PET jar?
No, PET is not intended for hot filling and may deform at high temperatures. Allow melted balms, body butters and emulsions to cool before filling until they are no longer hot to the touch. For anhydrous products that need to be liquid during filling, work at the lowest temperature at which they can still be poured.
