What is a fizzy bath bomb?

The basic ingredients of fizzy bath bombs are citric acid and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). These ingredients don't react together without water, but when thrown into water they react to form carbon dioxide, which fizzes- hence the name fizzy water :) So much chemistry.

However, cosmetics is not just about chemistry, which is why various ingredients are added to fizzy drinks that have a beneficial effect on our bodies. Different salts that relax the muscles, oils that moisturize the skin, dried herbs, essential oils and dyes are used as ingredients.

I have prepared a recipe for you using Epsom salts and olive oil.

To make the fizzy bath bomb we will need:

112 g of baking soda

56 g citric acid

56 g epsom salt

56 g starch (potato or corn)

2 tsp distilled water

2 tsp olive oil

Fragrance oil

Mica colouring

mould for making fizz

How to make it?

In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients, mix them thoroughly, in another bowl mix the wet ingredients. Very slowly, gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring continuously. The mixture should hold together when pressed in the palm of your hand. Fill hemispheres with the mixture and bring them together. With a spoon, tap the semi-spheres so that they separate from the resulting fizz. leave the fizz to dry for at least one day. You can find out more in the video below:

To use it, simply throw it in the bath, the chemical reaction I wrote about in the introduction takes place- shart, the salt relaxes our muscles, it helps with skin diseases and also heart diseases, the oil softens the skin.
