Product description

White glossy dropper, 52 mm

This is a dropper with an 18/415 thread that screws onto a bottle with the same neck type and replaces a standard cap. It allows precise drop-by-drop dispensing, making it particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures, active ingredient concentrates, and diluted fragrance oil mixtures — wherever a small amount is applied and dose control matters.

The length of the glass tube is sized for bottles of a matching height. The tube reaches almost to the bottom, so the contents can be used up without unnecessary residue.

Components and how it works

  • Glass tube – draws up and dispenses the contents; glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients and is easy to clean.
  • Silicone bulb – squeezing expels air, and releasing it draws in the liquid; silicone retains its elasticity over time.
  • PP collar – white glossy, carries the 18/415 thread with which the dropper is tightened onto the bottle neck and ensures a seal. Visually suited to white, matte, and clear bottles, with a clean, neutral appearance.

According to the technical documentation, the packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products.

Suitable for contents such as

  • Facial and hair serums – light, liquid to slightly thickened textures applied drop by drop.
  • Oil blends and massage oils in small packaging – vegetable oils, oil serums, blends with essential oils at low concentration.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – the dropper handles ethanol-based formulas well and delivers precise dosing.
  • Active ingredient concentrates – where a few drops are added to a finished base.

The dropper is less suitable for thick gels, creams, and emulsions with higher viscosity. These either do not draw into the tube or flow out unevenly.

What to keep in mind

Preparation before first filling. Before use, we recommend washing the glass tube and collar, disinfecting them, and leaving them to dry completely. The silicone bulb only needs to be rinsed and dried — water should not enter the bulb. A detailed procedure is in the frequently asked questions.

Filling and volume allowance. Once fitted, the glass tube displaces some of the contents, so the bottle should only be filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck. The total volume to the rim is reserved for the dropper, not for the product.

When closing, screw the collar on straight and tighten by hand. Excessive force can damage the PP thread and compromise the seal. During transport, we recommend checking that the bottle with the dropper seals properly on its side as well.

Air and sensitive contents. The dropper is not an airless system. Each time the bulb is released, air enters the bottle, accelerating the oxidation of sensitive oils and active ingredients. For such formulations, it is worth choosing a smaller package that will be used up faster, and considering an antioxidant in the formulation.

Aqueous and low-viscosity contents. The dropper is also suitable for aqueous solutions and tonics in small packaging. Since the tube repeatedly contacts the contents and hands, aqueous formulations must be reliably preserved.

Essential oils and solvents. Glass is resistant to both. The silicone bulb and PP collar withstand common cosmetic concentrations. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or undiluted solvents, we recommend monitoring the bulb's behaviour and seal integrity over time.

The glass tube is fragile. It can break on impact or if dropped, so do not place the dropper on the edge of a table, and when filling larger batches, fit the dropper only after the bottle has been filled.

Reuse. After thorough cleaning and disinfection, the dropper can be used again. If the bulb loses its elasticity, hardens, or changes colour after contact with the contents, we recommend replacing it.

Bottles and ready-made combinations. The dropper fits bottles with an 18/415 neck. Suitable bottles as well as complete bottle + dropper sets are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying that the tube length matches the bottle height and that the assembly seals properly with your specific formulation.

Recycling. The dropper consists of three materials. Before disposal, separate the glass tube, the silicone bulb, and the plastic collar, and sort each component individually.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles fit the 18/415 dropper?
The dropper fits all bottles with a neck marked 18/415, regardless of the bottle's material or colour. The first number indicates the neck diameter, the second the thread type, and both must match. In addition to the thread, the length of the glass tube should also be considered. It should reach almost to the bottom of the bottle so that the entire contents can be used up.
How is the dropper cleaned before first use?
Wash the glass tube and collar with warm water and a mild detergent, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to air-dry. The silicone bulb only needs to be wiped and dried — water or disinfectant should not be drawn into it. Fit the dropper onto the filled bottle only after it has dried completely.
Is the dropper suitable for oil serums with essential oils?
Yes, the dropper is suitable for oil serums, including blends containing a typical proportion of essential oils. The glass tube is resistant to both oils and essential oils, and the silicone bulb and PP collar withstand cosmetic concentrations. For contents with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils, we recommend checking whether the bulb softens over time and whether the dropper maintains its seal.
Why should a bottle with a dropper not be filled to the brim?
A bottle with a dropper should not be filled to the brim because once the glass tube is fitted it displaces some of the contents upwards. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, which accounts for the space taken by the dropper and for expansion of the contents. If filled to the neck, the contents will overflow through the thread when the dropper is screwed on, causing it to lose its seal and leaving the outside of the bottle greasy or sticky.
Can the dropper be used for aqueous tonics and hydrolats?
Yes, the dropper can be used for aqueous tonics, hydrolats, and other low-viscosity aqueous solutions in small packaging. However, it should be noted that air enters the bottle with each use and the tube contacts the contents, so the aqueous formulation must be reliably preserved. For larger volumes, a spray pump is more practical.
How many drops per millilitre does the dropper deliver?
The number of drops per millilitre is not fixed for a dropper and depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the contents. Thin oils and alcohol-based solutions produce smaller and more numerous drops, while thicker serums produce larger and fewer drops. If you state a dose in drops, we recommend measuring it directly with your own formulation and this dropper.
