Product description

The white-gold dropper 53 mm is a closure for drop-by-drop dispensing, designed for bottles with an 18/410 neck. It is suitable wherever a product is used in small amounts and needs to be applied precisely: for facial serums, oil blends, beard and nail oils, or concentrated active ingredients. The contents are drawn up by squeezing the bulb and released drop by drop, so the bottle does not need to be tilted and the neck stays clean.

The combination of white and gold gives the product a clean cosmetic appearance. It works on both clear and coloured glass, for own-label products for sale as well as gift sets.

What the dropper is made of

  • Glass tube – the part of the dropper that comes into the most contact with the contents. Glass does not absorb scent or colour and is easy to clean.
  • Silicone bulb – the flexible part used to draw up and dispense the contents. It returns to its original shape after being squeezed.
  • Aluminium collar with plastic thread – the metal shell forms the visible, decorative part of the closure. The internal thread made of polypropylene (PP) is used to tighten it onto the bottle neck.

The dropper is suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The declaration of suitability can be found in the product parameters.

How to choose the right bottle

Whether the dropper fits a bottle depends on two things: the neck type and the bottle height. The thread must be 18/410, otherwise the closure will not tighten properly or will not seal. The tube length determines how deep the dropper reaches. With the right bottle, it ends just above the base, so the last of the contents can be drawn up and the tube does not press against the glass when closing.

Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal, the tube length relative to the bottle height, and how the dropper performs with the specific formulation.

Fill the bottle only to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The tube displaces some of the contents when inserted, and the headspace below the neck prevents the product from overflowing through the thread when closing.

Suitable contents

The dropper works best with thin to medium-viscosity liquids: aqueous serums, tonics, hydrolats, and light plant oils. Drop size depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the contents, so a drop of an oil serum differs from a drop of an aqueous solution. If precise dosing matters for a product, count the drops per millilitre directly with the finished formulation.

Thick gels, emulsions, and highly viscous oils are drawn up slowly and incompletely through the narrow tube. For such textures, a pump is more practical.

Silicone may swell or soften with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils and certain solvents. Store bottles with such contents upright to prevent the liquid from reaching the bulb, and verify the combination with a test.

Useful to know

  • Preparation before first use – wash the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Water residues in the tube or bulb would transfer to the product and may cause cloudiness in anhydrous formulations.
  • Hygiene during use – the tube should not touch the skin. Contact transfers contaminants into the bottle, placing strain on the product's preservative system.
  • Reuse – after oily contents, rinsing with warm water and detergent followed by alcohol is helpful. If the bulb has lost its elasticity or changed shape, replace the dropper.
  • Handling glass – when inserting into a bottle and when cleaning, do not press on the end of the tube and protect it from impact.
  • Sorting for recycling – the closure consists of several materials. It is advisable to separate the glass tube from the other parts before sorting.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles does the white-gold dropper 53 mm fit?
The white-gold dropper 53 mm fits bottles with an 18/410 neck. In addition to the thread, the bottle height must also be checked: the tube should end just above the base so that all the contents can be drawn up and the glass does not press against the bottom when closing. The neck type and height can be found in the parameters of individual bottles. The safest choice is a ready-made bottle-and-dropper combination.
Is the white-gold dropper suitable for essential oils?
For diluted blends with essential oils, yes; for concentrated essential oils, we recommend testing the combination first. The glass tube is resistant; the more sensitive part is the silicone bulb, which may swell or soften with prolonged contact with concentrated oils. Store the bottle upright to prevent the contents from reaching the bulb.
Can a thick oil or gel also be dispensed with the dropper?
Thick contents are difficult to dispense with a dropper. The dropper is designed for thin to medium-viscosity liquids, such as aqueous serums, tonics, hydrolats, and light oils. Highly viscous oils, gels, and emulsions are drawn up slowly and incompletely through the narrow tube, making dispensing imprecise. A pump is more suitable for such textures.
How is the dropper cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, the dropper can be reused after thorough cleaning. Rinse the tube and bulb several times with warm water and detergent, then with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Before refilling, check that the bulb is elastic and the tube undamaged. Replace a worn dropper.
Why is a bottle with a dropper not filled to the brim?
A bottle with a dropper is not filled to the brim because the tube displaces some of the contents when inserted. If filled to the brim, the product would overflow through the thread when closing, contaminating the neck and compromising the seal. The bottle is therefore filled only to the nominal volume, which is less than the total volume to the brim. The headspace below the neck serves as a reserve for the dropper and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes.
