Product description
A white PET bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a 18/410 neck is a packaging option for your own cosmetic preparations that you want to protect from light and have on hand when travelling. The white material conceals the contents and reduces light penetration, making it suitable for products where you don't want the ingredients exposed to daylight on a shelf or in the bathroom. PET is lightweight and won't crack on impact, making this bottle particularly practical wherever the container is frequently handled, travels, or stands in the shower.
The 100 ml volume corresponds to standard packaging for facial toners, hydrolats, micellar waters, light oil serums, hair and body oils, liquid soaps, and shower gels in travel size or as customer samples. The narrow neck allows convenient dispensing with a pump, dropper, or dispensing cap.
Why choose a white PET bottle
- Light protection for the contents – the white opaque material limits light exposure to the product, which is an advantage for oils, hydrolats, and formulations with more sensitive ingredients.
- Lightweight and shatterproof – PET weighs a fraction of glass and won't crack on impact, making it suitable for the bathroom, travel, and postal shipping.
- Cosmetic and food-grade quality – the material is suitable for contact with cosmetic products as well as direct contact with food. The declaration of conformity and supporting documents are available with the product.
- Standard neck size – the 18/410 neck is one of the most widely used, so it can be paired with various dispensing types depending on the viscosity of the contents.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total capacity to the brim is greater, because the container has a headspace above the nominal fill level. This headspace accommodates the closure, pump, or dropper, and allows for expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck. If filled all the way to the brim, fitting a pump or dropper would cause the contents to overflow and the closure might not seal correctly.
Which preparations are suitable for this bottle
- Aqueous and hydroalcoholic products – tonics, hydrolats, micellar waters, and facial waters with a low alcohol content.
- Oil-based products – massage, body, and hair oils, and oil serums. The white wall protects oils from light, which accelerates their yellowing.
- Light gels and liquid soaps – shower gels, shampoos, and liquid soaps, provided they are dispensed with a pump or dispensing cap.
- Liquid foods and supplements – syrups, oils, extracts. The material is suitable for direct contact with food.
Thick creams and butters are difficult to fill through a narrow neck and hard to dispense from it. For such products, jars or bottles with a wider neck are more appropriate.
Closures and combinations
Any closure with the same 18/410 neck type fits this bottle. Closures and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance, and compatibility of the packaging with your specific formulation, especially for oils and products with a higher alcohol content.
What is good to know before filling
Before filling the bottle for the first time, we recommend rinsing and sanitising it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving it to dry completely neck down. Residual water in the container is one of the most common causes of early spoilage in water-based products.
PET is not intended for filling with hot contents. Allow emulsions, gels, and extracts to cool to room temperature before filling; otherwise the bottle wall may deform.
Do not expose the container to aggressive chemicals. For products with a high concentration of undiluted essential oils, strong solvents, or concentrated alcohol, a long-term compatibility test is recommended: leave the filled bottle to stand for several weeks and monitor for changes in shape, cloudiness of the wall, or leakage at the closure. Standard cosmetic emulsions, oils, and aqueous products with fragrance at typical dosages do not stress PET.
The bottle is suitable for repeated use, provided it is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between fills. When switching between an oil-based and an aqueous content, bear in mind that oil residues are harder to rinse from plastic than from glass. The smooth cylindrical wall takes self-adhesive labels well.
When filling, always leave an air gap below the neck. Both pumps and droppers need space to submerge their tube without displacing the contents.
PET is a single-material, readily recyclable plastic. After use, it belongs in sorted plastic waste collection.
