Product description

White dropper, matte smooth, 71 mm is a cap with a glass tube and a silicone bulb for bottles with an 18/410 neck finish. It allows precise dispensing of liquid preparations drop by drop. It suits all situations where the customer needs to measure a small amount – for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures, or concentrates of active ingredients. The white matte cap with a smooth surface looks clean and understated, coordinates with clear as well as brown or blue glass, and lets the label stand out.

The dropper has three parts: a cap made of polypropylene (PP) with a thread, a glass tube, and a silicone bulb. Glass does not react with the contents, so the dropper is also suitable for formulations that can be harmful to plastic over time – vegetable and essential oils, alcohol-based extracts, and serums with a higher proportion of active ingredients.

Why choose a dropper

  • Precise dosing – the tube draws up only as much preparation as needed, and the product lasts longer.
  • Hygienic use – the contents are not poured out or touched with fingers, less air and contaminants enter the bottle.
  • Glass tube – handles oils, essential oils, and alcohol-based formulations without changing appearance and without transferring odors.
  • Smooth matte cap – a simple shape that does not distract from the product and can be easily unscrewed even with greasy hands.

How to use the dropper

The dropper is screwed onto the neck of a bottle with an 18/410 finish in the same way as a regular cap. To dispense, squeeze the silicone bulb, submerge the tube in the contents, and release the bulb – the preparation is drawn in. The dose is then dispensed drop by drop directly onto the palm or skin.

Tube length is the measurement used to match the dropper to a bottle. The correctly chosen tube reaches just above the bottom: it draws up the last of the contents without resting on the bottom and without preventing the cap from being fully tightened. A tube that is too short leaves unused preparation on the bottom; one that is too long rests on the bottom and may crack.

Before the first fill, disassemble the dropper, wash it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave it to dry completely. Repeat the disinfection every time it is reused, especially when changing the type of formulation.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums and aqueous solutions of active ingredients – liquid textures are drawn up and dispensed drop by drop easily.
  • Oil serums and vegetable oil blends – the glass tube does not absorb grease and does not change appearance.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – glass does not react with the contents and does not transfer odor between formulations.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – alcohol does not harm glass.
  • Diluted colorants and active additives for manufacturing, where the producer needs to measure out a few drops per batch.

The dropper is not intended for thick preparations. Creams, thicker gels, and balms cannot be drawn up into the tube, and the cap will not seal properly.

Good to know

The dropper is a closure, not a standalone container. Bottles with an 18/410 neck finish and ready-made dropper-and-bottle combinations are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the behavior of the contents in the tube, and whether the tube length matches the height of the bottle.

A bottle with a dropper should only be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is larger precisely to leave room for the submerged tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the cap is screwed on and contaminate the thread.

The silicone bulb is used only for drawing up the preparation. It is squeezed before the tube is submerged, not after, to prevent the preparation from entering the bulb. Contents trapped in the bulb are difficult to clean and may deteriorate over time.

The dropper is suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

The glass tube is fragile. If the bottle is dropped on a hard surface, the tube may crack, so the dropper is not suitable for travel packaging carried loosely in a bag.

Once the dropper is no longer in use, disassemble it and sort the parts by material: the plastic cap goes with plastics, the glass tube goes with glass.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles does the 18/410 dropper fit?
The 18/410 dropper fits any bottle with the same neck finish, regardless of its volume. The number 18 is the neck diameter in millimetres; 410 denotes the thread type. In addition to the thread, the length of the glass tube is also important: it should reach just above the bottom of the bottle so that it draws up the last of the contents without resting on the bottom. Bottles with this neck finish and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range.
Is the dropper with a glass tube suitable for essential oils?
Yes, the dropper with a glass tube is suitable for essential oils. Glass does not react with them, does not cloud, and does not transfer odor between formulations. However, the preparation should not be drawn up as far as the silicone bulb. With concentrated blends, we recommend checking the seal with the specific bottle, as the seal depends on the connection between the cap and the neck.
Can the dropper be used for alcohol-based tinctures?
Yes, the dropper is suitable for alcohol-based extracts and tinctures. Alcohol does not harm the glass tube, and the polypropylene cap tolerates it well. With tinctures containing a higher alcohol content, it is advisable to fill the bottle only to the nominal volume to leave room for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Why should a bottle with a dropper not be filled to the brim?
The bottle should only be filled to the nominal volume, because the submerged tube pushes part of the contents upward when the cap is screwed on. The difference between the nominal and total volume is a reserve for the tube and for the expansion of the contents during temperature changes. If filled to the brim, the preparation overflows when the bottle is closed and contaminates the thread, which compromises the seal.
Is the dropper also suitable for creams and thick serums?
No, the dropper is intended only for liquid preparations. Creams, thick gels, and balms cannot be drawn up into the tube or do not flow out of it drop by drop. Jars or tubs are more suitable for such textures. For lightweight gel serums, we recommend testing the dispensing with the specific bottle beforehand.
