Product description
The glass bottle with dropper, 30 ml, is a ready-made set for serums, facial oils and other products that are dispensed drop by drop. The square amber glass medicine bottle filters out light, so oil blends with essential oils, antioxidant serums or tinctures stay better protected than in a clear bottle. The black and gold dropper with an aluminium collar complements the dark glass without any further decoration.
Both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the set is intended for cosmetics. The square shape stands stably on a flat surface and the bottles can be stored neatly side by side, which you will appreciate when filling smaller batches.
What it is good for
- Facial and oil serums – with the dropper you draw up only a few drops, which makes concentrated products go further and limits contact with fingers.
- Essential oil blends and fragrance oils – dark glass slows down changes in fragrance caused by light, and precise dispensing is useful when mixing into carrier oils or diffusers.
- Beard oil, cuticle oil and hair oils – a volume of 30 ml matches the usual size of these products, and the dropper applies the oil directly where it is needed.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and does not absorb fragrances or dyes.
- Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation, 30 ml is enough to test texture and stability without wasting raw materials.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume of 30 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the inner space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature.
Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the neck when the dropper is fitted and soil the thread, which then seals less well.
For thicker oils, a small funnel or a syringe without a needle has proved useful. Water-based and alcohol-based contents can be filled directly from a beaker with a spout.
Using the dropper
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a collar that screws onto the neck of the bottle. Squeezing the bulb while the tube is immersed draws in the contents, and releasing it over the skin or a container dispenses them drop by drop. The size of the drop depends on the viscosity of the liquid. Thinner tinctures and water-based serums give smaller drops, while thick oils and serums with a higher content of thickeners give larger ones.
The length of the tube is matched to this bottle so that even the last part of the contents can be drawn up. With very viscous products, for example gel serums with a high gum content, drawing up is slower and drops form with more difficulty. Test such textures in the packaging before you fill an entire batch.
After each use, return the tube to the bottle without any contents left in the bulb. If it is a drying oil, liquid that stays in the bulb for a long time may harden and block the dropper.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle in warm water with a small amount of detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Treat the dropper in the same way and rinse the tube by drawing up and releasing alcohol. Residual moisture in an anhydrous oil or serum is a source of microbial contamination, so leave the packaging to dry neck down on a clean cloth.
Glass withstands repeated cleaning and disinfection without any change in its properties, so you can use the bottle several times. The silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the dropper may soften or change shape during long-term contact with high concentrations of essential oils or with some solvents. With pure essential oils and strongly alcoholic contents, we recommend checking after several weeks of use that the dropper still draws up properly and seals.
Amber glass protects the contents from light, but it does not replace correct storage. Keep products containing oils prone to oxidation, for example flaxseed or rosehip oil, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, even in a dark bottle.
You will find closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, and ready-made combinations of this bottle with other caps, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation.
When you finish using the bottle, recycle it as glass. The dropper is made of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
