Product description
Plastic bottle, blue, white disc top, 250 ml is a ready-made set consisting of a blue PET bottle with a capacity of 250 ml and a white disc top cap, which can be opened and dispensed with one hand. The lightweight plastic withstands environments where the packaging is handled wet or greasy: the shower, the bathroom and the massage table.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle itself also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the disc top cap does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
What it is good for
The disc top opens by pressing one side of the disc. The contents are dispensed by tilting the bottle or gently squeezing it. It works best with liquid to medium-thick products that should flow smoothly into the palm:
- Shower gels and shampoos – the 250 ml capacity corresponds to a standard shower-sized pack, and the closure can be operated with one hand.
- Conditioners and body lotions – lighter and medium-thick emulsions are dispensed through the disc opening without dripping.
- Liquid hand and body soaps – suitable especially for thinner formulations that do not need to be pumped.
- Massage and body oils – the oil is dispensed directly onto the skin without unscrewing the cap.
Thick creams or very viscous balms are difficult to squeeze out through a disc top. A jar or a bottle with a pump is more suitable for such products.
Nominal capacity and filling
The nominal capacity of 250 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful capacity is slightly larger, and a reserve for the closure remains below the neck. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal capacity, not to the brim. For accurate filling, use a scale or a measuring cup rather than judging by eye.
Pour emulsions and gels into the bottle only after they have cooled to room temperature. The bottle is not intended for hot contents.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash and disinfect the bottle and the cap and leave them to dry completely. Do the same when reusing the packaging for a new batch.
PET is resistant to common cosmetic raw materials. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, first check how the packaging behaves on a small quantity. Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals.
The bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene (PP). Separate the two parts before recycling.
When transporting the bottle in a suitcase or a cosmetic bag, press the closure down firmly and carry the bottle in a separate bag. With liquid products, part of the contents may leak out if the bottle is squeezed.
The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish. You can find other closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations of packaging and closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
