Product description

Wick sticker tabs are double-sided adhesive discs used to attach the metal wick base to the bottom of a candle container. Their purpose is to keep the wick centred and in a vertical position during pouring and as the wax solidifies, so the candle burns evenly and the flame does not lean towards the container wall. The pack contains 20 pieces with a diameter of 1.5 cm, which corresponds to standard metal bases used in candle making in glass, tin or ceramic containers.

Why use wick sticker tabs

  • Stable wick anchoring – the base does not shift during pouring, even when the wax is hot and liquid, so the wick stays exactly where you placed it.
  • Faster container preparation – no need to work with a glue gun or a drop of melted wax, which often does not hold well on cold glass.
  • Clean work – the disc is thin, invisible once the wax is poured over it, and leaves no marks on the bottom of the container.
  • Precise dosing – one disc per base, no guessing how much adhesive to use.

How to use the sticker tabs

First, attach the disc to the flat bottom of the wick base. Then remove the protective film from the other side and press the base onto the bottom of the container. A long skewer, tweezers or a centring tool will help with precise placement in the centre while also straightening the wick at the top of the container.

The container should be clean, dry and degreased before sticking. Dust, moisture or grease from hands reduces adhesion, so wipe the bottom with a cotton pad soaked in ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to evaporate. The adhesive bonds better at room temperature; on cold glass from a cool workshop it holds less reliably.

After attaching, press the base firmly with your finger or the tip of a skewer for a few seconds and leave the container to stand for a moment while the adhesive bonds to the surface. Only then pour the wax.

Which candles are the sticker tabs suitable for

  • candles in glass and jars – the most common use; a smooth bottom is the ideal surface for adhering;
  • candles in tins – metal is smooth and the adhesive holds reliably;
  • candles in ceramic or concrete – with a rougher or more porous base, test adhesion on one piece first;
  • tea light and votive candles – when working with your own cups.

The sticker tabs are intended for wicks with a metal base. For candles cast in moulds from which the finished candle is removed, the wick is secured differently and the discs are not needed.

Good to know

The adhesive keeps the base in place mainly during pouring and solidification. Once the wax has set, it encases the base and holds it in place on its own. With very hot wax or when repeatedly pouring large containers, test the adhesive's behaviour on a trial candle.

The discs are single use. If you peel off the base and reattach it, adhesion drops significantly, so use a new disc. For candles with multiple wicks, count on one disc per base.

The sticker holds the base, not the wick. If the wick loses its vertical direction during solidification, the issue is not with the adhesive but with missing centring at the top of the container. Use a centring tool, a clip or two crossed skewers.

Frequently asked questions

How do you use wick sticker tabs?
Attach the disc to the bottom of the metal wick base, peel off the protective film and press the base onto the clean, dry bottom of the container. Then centre the wick at the top of the container and only then pour the wax. On a properly prepared surface, the base holds throughout pouring and solidification.
Do the wick sticker tabs hold in hot wax?
Yes, for standard candle pouring in glass and tins, the disc holds the base in place until the wax sets and fixes the base itself. At higher pouring temperatures or with large volumes, we recommend testing the adhesive's behaviour on one trial candle first.
Which wicks are the 1.5 cm diameter sticker tabs suitable for?
Sticker tabs with a diameter of 1.5 cm are designed for wicks with a metal base of similar or smaller size, as commonly used in jar, glass and tin candles. With larger bases, it is sufficient for the disc to cover the centre of the base. What matters is firm contact with the bottom, not complete coverage.
Can a wick sticker tab be reused?
No, the discs are single use. After peeling, dust and wax residue remain on the adhesive, adhesion drops and the base may come loose during pouring. Use a new disc for every new candle and every time you need to reposition the wick.
Why doesn't the wick sticker tab hold on the bottom of the container?
The most common cause is a greasy, wet or cold surface. Degrease the bottom of the container with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, allow it to dry completely and apply at room temperature. On a porous surface, such as unglazed ceramic or concrete, the adhesive holds less well. A smooth spot or a thin layer of wax poured onto the bottom in advance and left to set can help.
