Product description

A clear glass jar with a nominal volume of 25 ml, a plastic lid with a gold finish and an inner liner form a ready-to-use set for small quantities of thicker and semi-solid products. Content is scooped out with a finger or spatula, making it suitable for eye creams, balms, ointments, solid perfumes, masks, samples and trial sizes of face creams.

Clear glass shows the colour and texture of the contents, which you will appreciate with tinted balms, whipped butters or transparent gels. Glass also does not react with oils, butters or essential oils, so the jar handles even anhydrous formulas with a higher proportion of essential oils. The gold lid gives the packaging a look that works for gift products as well as on the shelf without any additional decoration.

Why choose this set

  • Ready-to-use set – the jar, lid and liner fit together, so there is no need to verify thread compatibility and seal integrity when combining parts from different sources.
  • Glass for more demanding formulas – does not react with oils, butters or essential oils and does not absorb the scent of the contents, so it can be reused for a different formula.
  • Inner liner – a polypropylene disc placed on top of the contents under the lid. It separates the cream from the plastic of the lid, limits surface drying and helps prevent the contents from smearing onto the thread during transport.
  • Transparency – the customer can see the colour and consistency of the product before opening.
  • Small volume – for active and more expensive formulas (eye area, concentrated balms) this is a size that will be used up before the product loses its quality.

Nominal and total volume

With jars you will encounter two figures. Nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the inner liner and lid as well as space for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. The jar should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it completely, the liner has nowhere to seat and the cream will be pushed into the thread when closing.

Fill thicker creams and balms with a small reserve below the thread level, smooth the surface and only then place the liner. The lid will close cleanly and the thread will remain free of residue that would otherwise dry out and make opening difficult.

Use in production

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity can be found on the product page. The set is not approved for contact with food and is therefore not suitable for homemade syrups, honeys or oils intended for consumption.

Before the first fill, wash the jar, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. It is sufficient to disinfect and dry the liner and lid. Residual moisture in the jar is an unnecessary risk for microbial stability with anhydrous balms and butters.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot mass (balms, solid perfumes, wax-based ointments) into a cold jar directly from the heat source. Allow it to cool slightly or temper the jars in warm water beforehand and dry them. With whipped butters and emulsions that are filled cold, this step is not necessary.

The lid is plastic with a glossy finish. To clean it, use lukewarm water and a soft cloth, not aggressive solvents or abrasives that would dull the surface. Direct contact between the contents and the lid is limited by the inner liner, so do not skip it when filling.

Good to know

  • Light – clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Formulas with light-sensitive ingredients (unsaturated oils, vitamin C, natural colorants, some essential oils) should be stored in the dark or filled in smaller batches that are used up quickly.
  • Aqueous and emulsion products – the jar opens across the full neck and the contents are scooped with a finger. Creams and gels therefore require reliable preservation and it is advisable to include a spatula.
  • Reuse – glass can be washed, disinfected and used again without loss of properties. Replace the liner when refilling, as it retains residue from the previous contents.
  • Labelling – the label is applied around the circumference of the jar or on the base; a smaller one will also fit on the lid.
  • Spare parts – lids and liners with the same thread type are available separately in the Handymade range. When using your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal with the actual formula.
  • Recycling – before disposal, disassemble the set: glass goes with glass, the lid and liner go with plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 25 ml glass jar with a gold lid suitable for balms with essential oils?
Yes, glass is resistant to essential oils and oil bases and does not absorb their scent. It is important to use the inner liner, which separates the contents from the plastic lid. For balms that are filled hot, allow the mass to cool slightly before pouring to avoid thermal shock to the glass.
What is the inner liner in the jar for?
The inner liner is a thin polypropylene disc that is placed on the surface of the contents after filling. It separates the cream or balm from the lid, limits surface drying and prevents the contents from reaching the thread during transport. Replace it when refilling, as it traps residue from the previous formula.
How much cream fits in a jar with a nominal volume of 25 ml?
For normal filling, count on 25 ml, which is the volume the jar is designed for. Physically slightly more will fit, but this space is reserved for the liner, lid and expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill the jar to the brim, the liner will not seat properly and the contents will be pushed out when closing.
Does the clear glass jar protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass transmits light and does not protect the contents. It is suitable for stable formulas or products that are used up quickly. If you are working with light-sensitive ingredients such as unsaturated vegetable oils, vitamin C or natural colorants, store the filled jars in the dark, or choose dark glass.
Can the 25 ml glass jar be washed and used again?
Yes, the glass jar can be repeatedly washed, disinfected and refilled while retaining all its properties. Clean the lid only with lukewarm water and a soft cloth to avoid damaging the gold glossy surface. Replace the inner liner with a new one when refilling.
Is this set also suitable for food, for example homemade honey or syrup?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food and is not intended for homemade food products. The jar, lid and liner are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, meaning creams, balms, ointments, masks, solid perfumes and similar products. The declaration of conformity can be found on the product page.
