Product description

A dropper bottle for small doses of liquid cosmetic products: a clear glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml that dispenses drop by drop. It suits any situation where you work with small amounts: facial serums, face and hair oils, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, cuticle oils, aromatherapy blends, or samples and testers of your own products. Clear glass shows both the colour and the clarity of the contents, and the thick base keeps the bottle stable on the table. A volume of 10 ml corresponds to the usual size of a concentrated serum or facial oil that is used up before it starts to lose quality.

The set includes a bottle and a dropper in a white and gold finish with the same thread, so you only need to clean it before first use and fill it. Both the bottle and the dropper are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is provided with the product.

How the dropper works

The dropper combines an aluminium collar, a glass tube and a soft bulb. Squeezing the bulb draws in part of the contents, and releasing it dispenses one drop at a time. With serums and oils this means fairly precise dispensing without spills and without your fingers touching the contents. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle so that it reaches the bottom and even the last drops can be drawn out.

Drop-by-drop dispensing works with liquid and slightly viscous products. Thick emulsions, creams and gels are not drawn up through the tube, and a jar or a bottle with a pump is more suitable for them.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them leaves room for the inserted tube of the dropper and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

After pouring, first insert the dropper and check the liquid level. If the contents leak at the neck after screwing in the dropper, there was too much and some needs to be removed.

Good to know

  • Light – clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store products containing essential oils, plant extracts, vitamins or unstable active ingredients in a box or in the dark. For longer storage of sensitive blends, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
  • Preparation before filling – wash and rinse the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product shortens its shelf life and may make it cloudy.
  • Temperature – do not pour hot blends into the glass; let the product cool down first. A sudden change in temperature puts stress on the glass, and a dropper with a bulb is not designed for hot contents.
  • Using the dropper – do not draw the contents all the way up into the bulb, and do not leave the dropper lying on the table with the tube down. Store the bottle upright so that the contents are not in long-term contact with the bulb.
  • Essential oils and alcohol – the glass is resistant to them. We recommend testing the behaviour of the soft bulb and the seal on a small sample when the proportion of essential oils or alcohol is high.
  • Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle and the dropper can be used again. When changing the formulation, pay attention to the tube, where a residue of the previous product remains.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling, while the dropper consists of several materials and is sorted separately.

The set is declared for contact with cosmetics. It is not intended for food use, such as herbal drops or cooking oils.

You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of packaging and closures in the Handymade range.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is suitable for products that are used up quickly or for blends without sensitive ingredients. Store serums containing vitamins, extracts or essential oils in a box or in a dark cupboard, or choose amber or blue glass of the same shape.
How much liquid fits into a 10 ml dropper bottle?
The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml. Physically it is larger, and the difference leaves room for the inserted tube of the dropper and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. If more is poured in, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is screwed in. The total brimful volume is stated in the parameters.
Can a glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, after thorough washing, disinfection and drying, the bottle and the dropper can be filled again. The glass withstands common cleaning products as well as isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Rinse the dropper with warm water and a small amount of cleaning product, draw clean water through it several times, and let the tube and the bulb dry completely.
Is a dropper bottle suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
For the glass part, yes; glass is resistant to essential oils and alcohol. With the soft bulb and the seal of the dropper, the behaviour depends on the composition of the particular product, especially with pure essential oils or a high proportion of alcohol. We recommend filling one bottle as a test and checking the bulb, the tightness and the scent of the contents after a few days.
Is the dropper suitable for thick serums or creams?
No, the dropper dispenses only liquid and slightly viscous products. Oils, water-based and alcohol-based serums, or light gel serums are drawn up without problems. Thick gels, emulsions and creams are not drawn up through the tube and remain at the bottom. A bottle with a pump or a jar is more suitable for such textures.
Can a closure other than the dropper be used on the bottle?
Yes, the bottle has a standard thread type stated in the parameters, and other closures with the same neck can also be used on it, for example a cap or a fine mist sprayer. You will find ready-made combinations of a bottle with a closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the dispensing with your particular formulation.
