Product description
Glass bottle, square, 10 ml, silver dropper
A set consisting of a clear square glass bottle and a glossy silver dropper for precise drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid cosmetic products. The 10 ml volume suits samples, travel packs and concentrated products used in small amounts: facial oils, oil serums, essential oil blends in a carrier oil, tinctures, or drops for nails and cuticles. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so you can see what is inside and how much is left.
The dropper has a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a glossy silver top. The length of the tube is chosen for the height of this bottle, so when it is filled to the nominal volume, almost all of the contents can be used. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial and body oils – the dropper dispenses drop by drop, exactly as facial oils are applied.
- Oil serums with active ingredients – a small volume is used up before the more delicate oils begin to spoil.
- Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – the glass tube does not react with the oil component. Check how the silicone bulb behaves with your particular blend, especially with a higher proportion of essential oils.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based products – glass is resistant to alcohol; we recommend checking the tightness of the closure during longer storage.
- Samples and test batches – 10 ml is enough to try a new formulation or to make a sample for a customer.
The dropper is not suitable for thick or creamy textures. The tube will not draw them up and the bulb will not push them out; for such products, choose a jar or a bottle with a different type of closure.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The nominal volume of 10 ml is the volume the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brimful volume, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for slight expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only to the nominal volume. A bottle filled to the brim will overflow when the dropper is fitted and the contents will get into the thread.
Clear glass lets light through. Store products containing oils prone to oxidation or light-sensitive active ingredients in the dark, or choose a bottle made of amber glass, which reduces the amount of light reaching the contents.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube or in the thread would get into the contents of anhydrous products. Do not pour hot products into the bottle, as a sudden change of temperature can damage the glass. Let the contents cool to room temperature first.
When filling by hand, a small funnel helps, as does drawing the product up with the dropper directly from the working container. After filling, wipe the neck so that no oil gets into the thread and the dropper seals properly. The dropper is intended for dispensing. When carrying the bottle in a handbag, keep it upright and check the tightness with your formulation beforehand, especially with thinner products.
The bottle and the dropper can be reused after washing. Unscrew the dropper and rinse the tube with warm water and washing-up liquid; for oil residues, a short soak in alcohol helps. When cleaning, squeeze the bulb several times and rinse it until the water runs clear. The bottle goes in glass recycling; the dropper consists of several materials and should be disposed of separately from the bottle.
If you make several identical samples, fill the bottles all at once and fit the droppers only after wiping the necks. This saves you cleaning sticky threads later.
You can find closures with the same neck type, stated in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you combine the bottle with a different closure, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your particular formulation.
