Glass Dropper, Glossy Silver, 13/415, 46 mm

The glossy silver dropper is a closure with a glass pipette and bulb for small bottles with a narrow neck, allowing precise dosing drop by drop. It is suitable wherever a small amount is applied at a time and the dose needs to be controlled: in facial serums, oil elixirs, active ingredient concentrates, essential oil blends or tinctures. The glass pipette draws the contents directly from the bottle, so the product does not have to be poured out or taken with a finger. This is more hygienic and saves expensive ingredients.

The glossy silver ring gives the bottle a clean, uniform look and matches clear, amber and blue glass alike. The dropper thus serves both as a practical closure and as a visible element of the packaging, which looks neat without any further accessories.

How the dropper works and which bottles it fits

The dropper consists of four parts: a silicone bulb that draws in and expels the contents, an aluminium ring with a glossy silver finish, a plastic threaded insert that screws onto the neck of the bottle, and a glass pipette that reaches into the bottle. Squeezing the bulb expels air, releasing it draws the contents into the pipette, and a further gentle squeeze doses it out drop by drop.

The dropper fits bottles with the same type of thread as stated in the specifications, that is, the narrow neck of small bottles and vials. The length of the glass pipette is also given in the specifications and should match the height of the bottle. A pipette that is too short will not reach the bottom and the last millilitres cannot be withdrawn, while one that is too long will rest against the bottom and the closure will not seal.

What is good to know before filling

Before first use it is advisable to take the dropper apart, wash it, rinse it with clean water or disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Moisture in the pipette would introduce water into an anhydrous oil or serum, which is undesirable for products without a preservative. The same procedure applies with every change of contents.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for under normal filling; the total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper pipette, which pushes some of the contents upwards when inserted. If filled to the brim, the contents would be forced out through the thread after closing.

The silicone bulb is generally resistant to vegetable oils and water-based serums. With high concentrations of essential oils, alcohol tinctures and some solvents, we recommend verifying long-term compatibility, as the bulb may soften or lose its elasticity over time. The glass pipette is resistant to such contents.
