Product description
A bottle with a disc top cap is used for dispensing liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products: shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps and body lotions. The contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle. The closure is opened by pressing the edge of the disc and closed with the same movement, without unscrewing the cap each time you use it. Clear PET shows the colour and the amount of the contents, the bottle is lightweight and, unlike glass, it does not break if dropped, so it suits the bathroom as well as travel. Both the bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for food.
What it is suitable for
A disc top suits contents that flow slowly. When you squeeze the bottle, a dose comes out through the opening in the centre of the disc, and the flow stops when you release the pressure.
- Shower gels and liquid soaps – they are dispensed with one hand, and the closure stays easy to operate during showering.
- Shampoos and conditioners – the 100 ml size corresponds to a travel pack or a sample from a larger batch.
- Body lotions and lighter emulsions – as long as they are fluid enough to pass through the opening in the disc. Thick creams and butters are difficult to dispense through a disc top.
- Cleansing gels – the clear wall shows how much of the contents remains.
Very thin liquids, such as toners or micellar waters, spray out uncontrollably through a disc top when the bottle is squeezed. A sprayer or a bottle with a different type of closure is more suitable for them.
How to fill and dispense
The bottle has a nominal capacity of 100 ml, that is, the volume it is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides a margin for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal capacity, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle pushes the contents out through the disc when the cap is screwed on.
The cap is screwed onto a 24/410 neck finish and tightened by hand. It is made of aluminium and PP, silver with a white dispensing centre. Before closing the bottle for the first time, we recommend wiping any excess contents from the neck so that the thread seals properly and the disc does not stick.
Check the consistency of the contents on a small amount. If a dose comes out in a continuous stream with gentle squeezing and stops when you release the pressure, the formulation is correctly set for a disc top.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Follow the same procedure when reusing them. Residues of the previous contents in the thread or in the opening of the disc spoil the new product.
PET does not protect the contents from light. Light-sensitive formulations, for example oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or products with some plant extracts, belong in amber glass. The clear bottle is intended for contents that are not affected by light or that are used up quickly.
Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the material behaves in a filled bottle before you use it for the whole batch. Let warm contents cool down before filling.
A disc top does not seal as tightly as a screw cap with a sealing liner. During transport, keep the bottle upright or in a separate bag, especially with thin contents.
The bottle is made of PET and belongs in sorted plastic waste. The cap combines aluminium and PP, so separate it from the bottle before disposal. Closures with the same neck finish and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
