Product description

The 6 ml glass perfume sprayer is designed to hold a small amount of fragrance that you can carry with you or hand out as a sample. The set consists of a clear glass bottle with a 13/410 neck and a plastic fine mist sprayer with the same thread, so it is supplied as a ready-made pair. Clear glass shows both the colour and the level of the contents.

The packaging is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and meets the applicable legislative requirements.

What it is suitable for

  • Samples and testers of your own perfumes – the small volume lets you give customers or friends a chance to try a fragrance without filling a large bottle.
  • Travel size of a favourite fragrance – the bottle fits into a wallet or a cosmetic bag, the contents are dispensed by the sprayer and they do not spill.
  • Trial batches when developing a perfume composition – when adjusting the ratio of fragrance oil, alcohol and water, it is worth filling a small amount. You can then compare each version in real use on the skin.
  • Eaux de parfum, eaux de toilette and colognes – the sprayer is designed for thin alcohol-based fragrances like these.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the sprayer attachment and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows through the neck after the sprayer is screwed on, and the thread is then harder to clean.

When filling from a larger bottle, a small funnel or a dropper will help. The narrow 13/410 neck is not designed for pouring directly, and most of the fragrance would end up outside the bottle.

One press of the sprayer dispenses approximately 0.06 ml. A full bottle therefore lasts roughly 100 sprays, which for a sample covers several days of regular use.

How to use it

Before first use, pump the sprayer several times until the tube fills with fragrance and it starts to produce an even mist. The first presses are often weaker or release nothing, which is normal for a pump of this type.

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the bottle, rinsing it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and letting it dry completely upside down. It is enough to rinse the sprayer with the same alcohol and spray clean ethanol through it several times to flush out any residues from the tube.

The set can be used repeatedly. When changing the fragrance, rinse the bottle with alcohol and spray clean ethanol through the sprayer until the original fragrance no longer comes out. Otherwise, residues of the previous composition in the tube mix with the new one and the first sprays will smell different from how they should.

The sprayer is designed for thin alcohol-based contents. It draws up oil-based perfumes and thick mixtures with difficulty, no mist is produced and the nozzle may clog. For your own formulations with a high proportion of carrier oil, we recommend first checking the behaviour of the sprayer on a small amount.

Good to know

Glass is sensitive to impact and sudden temperature changes. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not leave it in the sun, as the contents expand when heated.

Clear glass lets light through. If kept in a clear bottle, perfumes containing citrus or other light-sensitive ingredients are best stored in the dark, for example in a box or in a drawer. For long-term storage of a larger amount of fragrance, a dark bottle is more suitable.

The sprayer is made of plastic. For alcohol-based fragrances with the usual usage rates of perfume compositions, this is the standard solution. For your own blends with a very high concentration of essential oils or with solvents other than ethanol and water, we recommend checking the compatibility of the plastic in the specific formulation.

You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with the specific contents.

Before recycling, unscrew the sprayer and separate it from the bottle; glass and plastic are sorted separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 6 ml glass perfume sprayer suitable for oil-based perfume?
No, this sprayer is designed for alcohol-based perfumes and other thin liquids. Oil-based perfume has a higher viscosity, the mechanism draws it up with difficulty, no mist is produced at the nozzle and it may clog. A bottle with a dropper is more suitable for oil-based fragrances. For mixtures in which oil makes up only a smaller part, we recommend checking the behaviour of the sprayer on a small amount.
How many sprays does the 6 ml glass perfume sprayer deliver?
Approximately 100 sprays, since one press of the sprayer dispenses around 0.06 ml. The actual number depends on how full the bottle is and on the viscosity of the contents. The tube usually cannot draw up the last remainder at the bottom of the bottle, so take this into account when estimating.
Can I reuse the glass perfume sprayer for a different fragrance?
Yes, the set can be washed and filled again. Rinse the bottle with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry, then spray clean ethanol through the sprayer until the original fragrance can no longer be smelled. Rinse the tube thoroughly, otherwise residues of the previous composition will mix with the new one and the first sprays will smell different from how they should.
Why should the glass perfume bottle not be filled to the brim?
Because once the sprayer is screwed on, the tube and the attachment take up part of the space and the contents would run out through the neck. The nominal volume of 6 ml is the amount intended for normal filling. The brimful volume is larger and serves as a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only to the nominal volume.
Does the clear glass bottle protect perfume from light?
No, clear glass lets light through. For short-term use or for a sample this does not matter. With longer storage, light can change the colour and scent of the composition, especially with citrus and other light-sensitive ingredients. Keep the bottle in a box or in the dark, and store larger supplies of fragrance in dark glass.
Can a closure other than the sprayer be screwed onto the 13/410 bottle?
Yes, the bottle has a standard 13/410 neck and closures with the same thread type fit it, for example a dropper or a cap. You will find the range of closures and ready-made combinations with this neck at Handymade. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the closure with the specific contents.
