- Description
- Inulin is a plant-derived polysaccharide that is added to cosmetics as a prebiotic active ingredient and humectant . It belongs in the water phase and suits serums, creams, toners, shampoos and shower gels, where it supports the balance of the skin microbiome and helps bind moisture in the skin. In hair care it is used as a conditioning agent for the hair and scalp. The prebiotic approach to skin care is based on the idea that healthy skin has its own natural microbial population, which should be supported rather than disrupted. Inulin is compatible with surfactants and tolerates neutral and mildly alkaline pH, so it can be worked into both rinse-off and leave-on formulations without changing their base. Key benefits Support for the skin microbiome – it acts as a prebiotic, that is, an ingredient that contributes to the balance of the natural microflora on the skin surface. It is especially useful in products for sensitive skin and in products that stay on the skin. Hydration – as a humectant, it helps bind water in the skin. The result depends on the overall composition of the formulation, in particular on whether it is complemented by an oil phase that retains moisture. Conditioning effect – in hair cosmetics it acts as a conditioning agent for the hair and scalp, both in shampoos and in leave-on products. Suitable for sensitive skin – the raw material is not classified as hazardous, contains no preservatives or food allergens, and is intended for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Use in formulations The powder dissolves in the water phase . Add it gradually to wafull description on the product page →
