Product description
A glass bottle, Boston vial with an aluminium rose-gold cap is a complete ready-to-fill set for storing larger quantities of cosmetics. The packaging with a nominal volume of 1000 ml is especially suited for vegetable oils, macerates, massage and body oils, hydrolats and tonics, as well as intermediates in production that are later decanted into smaller retail containers.
Glass is chemically inert, does not react with the contents and does not absorb fragrances or colorants, making it suitable even for contents with essential oils, alcohol or strongly coloured extracts. The screw-on aluminium cap with an inner sealing insert made of EPE (expanded polyethylene foam) closes the bottle reliably. The set is ready to use without purchasing a closure separately.
Why choose this set
- Volume for production and stock – a litre of contents covers a production batch, a reserve of a base oil or a larger pack for beauty salons and massage therapists.
- Glass with no interaction with the contents – does not absorb odours, does not release material components into the contents and can be thoroughly cleaned even after oily contents.
- Sealing aluminium cap – the EPE insert conforms to the neck and, when hand-tightened correctly, holds in place even during transport.
- Finished appearance – the rose-gold metal cap gives the packaging a polished look suited to gift sets or display pieces in a store.
- Reusable – both the bottle and the cap withstand repeated washing and disinfection; the set serves as a permanent bulk storage container.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under standard filling conditions. Total volume to the rim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes, for example during transport or storage near a window. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. Otherwise there is a risk of contents being forced into the thread and of reduced cap sealing.
What the set is suitable for
- Vegetable and massage oils – glass does not react with oil, the neck can be wiped after use and the cap re-tightened without the thread becoming blocked.
- Hydrolats and tonics – glass adds no odour or colour from the material to water-based contents with a preservative; however, the weight of a full bottle should be taken into account when handling.
- Macerates and alcohol-based extracts – glass is stable towards alcohol and the sealing insert limits evaporation.
- Intermediates and semi-finished products – a blended oil phase, a finished tonic before bottling or a supply of a base covering several production days.
- Professional-size packaging – salon-size packaging of massage oil or body lotion dispensed by decanting into a smaller working bottle.
The cap is designed for sealing, not for dispensing. If you need to dispense the contents directly from the bottle, closures with the same neck type (listed in the product parameters) and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
What is worth knowing before filling
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity is included with the product. The food-contact attestation applies to the glass bottle alone; the complete set with the aluminium cap is as a whole intended for cosmetics.
Before first filling, wash the bottle and cap, rinse, and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Allow to dry completely — residual water in oil-based contents promotes microbial growth.
Glass tolerates warm contents, but is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Allow a hot oil phase to cool to at least lukewarm before pouring, and do not fill a cold bottle with hot contents. Tighten the cap by hand; excessive force damages the sealing insert and the cap will no longer seal properly. Protect the coloured surface of the cap from scratches against metal shelves or other bottles.
A full one-litre glass bottle is heavy. Secure it against tipping during transport and, when storing multiple units, place them on lower shelves.
The flat surface of the bottle is suitable for a label; bottle dimensions are listed in the product parameters. At the end of its service life, the bottle belongs in glass recycling and the aluminium cap in metal recycling.
