Product description

Glass bottle in a dropper vial shape with green glass is designed for small cosmetic doses where protecting the contents from light matters. The 10 ml volume makes it a practical container for facial serums, treatment oils for face and cuticles, essential oil blends, tinctures, or samples that let customers try a new product before purchasing a larger size.

Green glass filters part of the light reaching the contents, slowing down changes in sensitive ingredients — particularly plant oils prone to oxidation and formulations containing vitamins or essential oils. Compared to clear glass, the contents are only partially visible; compared to amber glass, the colour feels fresher and suits plant-based or herbal product lines.

Suitable applications

  • Facial serums and oil serums – the small volume matches the typical usage period of serums, so the contents are used up before they lose quality.
  • Essential oil blends – glass does not react with essential oils, does not absorb the scent, and can be used repeatedly.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – alcohol does not damage glass, and green glass also protects plant pigments from fading.
  • Samples and travel sizes – 10 ml is enough for a few weeks of testing a cream, oil, or tonic.
  • Cuticle and eyebrow oil – with a dropper, the vial dispenses precisely drop by drop.

Nominal and total volume

We list two values for each container. Nominal volume is the volume the container is designed for in normal filling and the value stated on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure or dropper and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled vial will overflow when the dropper is screwed in and contents will enter the thread.

When filling thicker serums and oils, a small syringe or a narrow-neck funnel works well. The contents reach the bottom without running down the thread, and the closure seals properly.

Choosing a closure

The bottle has an 18/410 neck thread. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and container behaviour with the specific formulation, particularly with sprayers and low-viscosity contents.

Things to know

Before first use, wash the bottle, sanitise it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow it to dry completely. Any remaining moisture in the vial would introduce water into an anhydrous oil or serum and shorten its stability.

Glass tolerates heat, but not sudden temperature changes. Allow a hot emulsion to cool slightly before filling, and do not move the bottle directly from a cold surface into a hot bath. Glass is impermeable to air and fragrance compounds, so it will not alter the scent of the contents and can be reused after cleaning.

Labels apply easily to the cylindrical shape of the vial. For the small diameter, a narrower label with brief text and a separate insert work best.

Based on the technical documentation, the container is suitable for direct contact with cosmetic products. A declaration of conformity is available with the product.

An empty glass bottle goes into glass recycling. The closure should be unscrewed before disposal and sorted according to its material.

Green glass reduces light transmission but does not protect the contents as fully as an opaque container. Formulations with highly sensitive ingredients should be kept out of direct sunlight even in this bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the green glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, green glass filters part of the light and slows down the oxidation of oils and sensitive active ingredients. The protection is not as complete as with an opaque container, so a bottle with sensitive contents should not be left in direct sunlight. For everyday serums, oils, and tinctures, green glass provides sufficient protection.
How much can the 10 ml glass vial hold?
The bottle is designed for 10 ml of content, which is its nominal volume. Its physical brim-full capacity is slightly larger, but that reserve is intended for the dropper and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. When filled to the nominal volume, the closure seals properly and contents do not overflow into the thread.
Is the glass vial suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based tinctures?
Yes, glass does not react with either essential oils or alcohol and does not absorb scents. For essential oils and tinctures, a closure should be chosen whose insert and seal are resistant to solvents. Ready-made bottle + closure combinations in the Handymade range have their suitability listed with the product.
Can the 10 ml glass bottle be reused?
Yes, glass can be reused after washing and disinfecting without any change in its properties. Rinse the bottle with warm soapy water, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and allow to dry. The closure and dropper wear faster; when refilling, it is advisable to check their seal.
Which closure fits a glass vial with an 18 mm thread?
The bottle takes closures with an 18/410 neck — caps, droppers, and sprayers with this thread. The choice depends on the contents: a dropper for oils and serums, a sprayer for tonics, a screw cap with a sealing insert for tinctures. Closures with the same neck and ready-made combinations are available in Handymade.
