Product description
Amber glass medicine bottle, square, roll-on, 90 ml
A ready-made set for roll-on preparations applied to larger areas of the body: a square amber glass bottle with a nominal volume of 90 ml, a metal roller ball in a plastic housing and a black screw cap. Amber glass reduces light exposure, so it better preserves vegetable and essential oils and alcohol-based solutions, which are sensitive to light. The ball spreads the contents directly onto the skin without dripping and without touching them with your fingers.
At 90 ml, the bottle is larger than typical roll-on bottles. The set is therefore suitable for preparations that are used up faster: massage and body oils, aromatherapy blends for the neck and shoulders, cooling alcohol-based solutions for tired legs or liquid deodorants. All three components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What the set includes
- Amber glass medicine bottle, square, 90 ml – amber glass, a square medicine bottle shape with straight walls that stands stably and sits well in the hand.
- Metal roller ball for roll-on, 18/410 – a steel ball in a polypropylene housing. After filling, it is pressed into the neck; during application it rotates and spreads the contents over the skin.
- Plastic roll-on cap, 18/410, black – a polypropylene screw cap. It covers the ball and closes the bottle between uses.
What it is suitable for
The ball works best for applying liquid contents of low viscosity that move freely in the housing. The set is suitable mainly for:
- Massage and body oils – a vegetable oil with essential oils for muscles, joints or the décolleté area.
- Aromatherapy blends – diluted essential oils in a carrier oil for the neck, temples or wrists. The larger volume is worthwhile for blends for the whole family or for regular use.
- Alcohol-based solutions and tinctures – cooling preparations for the legs and refreshing solutions for the skin. Glass does not react with alcohol, and the polypropylene cap and housing withstand common cosmetic alcohol-based solutions.
- Liquid deodorants – water-based or alcohol-based deodorants applied with a ball. For water-based contents, remember to preserve them.
Thicker gels and emulsions are harder to apply with a ball, as the contents are not released from the housing evenly. Test a thickened product on a small amount before filling the whole batch.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling. The brim-full volume is larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the ball housing, which takes up part of the neck once pressed in, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Therefore, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume. An overfilled bottle pushes part of the contents out when the ball is inserted and may leak after closing.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the ball with its housing and the cap with alcohol and dry them. Residual water would introduce moisture into oil-based contents and a risk of microbial growth into an anhydrous preparation.
Filling procedure: pour the liquid contents through a funnel up to the nominal volume, place the housing with the ball onto the neck and press evenly until it snaps in. Then screw on the cap. On first use, it is enough to run the ball over the skin several times so that the housing is wetted and the contents begin to flow smoothly.
Good to know
Amber glass protects the contents from light, but it does not protect them from heat. Do not leave a bottle with oil-based or alcohol-based contents in the sun or near a heat source. The contents expand and the pressure in a closed bottle rises. Do not expose the glass to sudden changes in temperature, for example hot water straight after taking it out of the cold.
Tightness and dispensing depend on the specific formulation. Before making a larger batch, fill one piece, leave it lying on its side and upside down for a few days and check that it does not leak and that the contents are applied evenly with the ball.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend verifying tightness, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The set can be reused. The housing with the ball is pried out of the neck with a thin flat object, and the bottle is washed and disinfected in the same way as before the first filling. When changing from oil-based to alcohol-based or water-based contents, remove any oil residues thoroughly, otherwise the solution will turn cloudy.
