Product description

A complete glass roll-on bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml for liquid oil-based preparations that are applied directly to the skin by rolling the ball. The clear glass shows the colour of the contents, and the plastic roller ball spreads a thin layer, so you do not have to drip the product onto your fingers. It is suitable for perfume oils, essential oil blends in a carrier oil, an oil-based eye area serum or lip oil.

The pack includes a glass bottle, a polypropylene roller ball and a silver cap that covers the ball and protects it from dirt. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Perfume oils – alcohol-free fragrances in a carrier oil are applied to the wrists and neck with the roll-on, and the small size fits easily into a handbag.
  • Essential oil blends – aromatherapy blends diluted in jojoba or sweet almond oil are applied precisely and in small amounts with the roller ball.
  • Eye area oil – the roller ball applies a thin layer around the orbital bone without pressure from the fingers.
  • Lip oil or cuticle oil – targeted application to a small area without waste.
  • Samples and test batches – 10 ml is enough to try out a new fragrance composition before you mix it in a larger quantity.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the amount the container is intended to hold under normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume of the bottle up to the top of the neck. The difference between the two leaves room for the roller ball, which takes up part of the space in the neck once fitted, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume and press the roller ball into the neck as far as it will go. Then turn the roll-on upside down and wait a moment to check that the seal is tight. The first few turns only soak the ball, and the contents begin to spread after several rotations.

The roll-on works only with liquid contents. Thin oils and oil blends wet the roller ball well and are applied smoothly. Thicker oils, butters dissolved in oil or gel textures are transferred poorly or not at all by the roller ball, so for these we recommend testing the behaviour on a small sample. Water-based and alcohol-based solutions can be applied, but test the tightness of the seal with your specific formulation before filling a larger number of units.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, roller ball and cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Drops of water left in the neck do not dissolve in oil-based contents.

Clear glass does not provide protection from light. For oils that are sensitive to oxidation and for essential oils whose fragrance changes with exposure to light, store the roll-on in the dark or in a box. If you need to protect the contents from light, choose amber glass instead.

The roller ball is made of polypropylene, and the cap combines polypropylene with aluminium. For undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking whether the roller ball changes shape or surface over time.

Do not fill the glass with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden changes in temperature. The set is not approved for food contact and is intended for cosmetics only, so do not use it for homemade oils or syrups.

Once empty, the bottle and cap can be washed and reused. When you change the contents, we recommend replacing the roller ball, as traces of the previous fragrance are difficult to remove from it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10 ml glass roll-on suitable for perfume oil?
Yes, perfume oils based on a carrier oil are among the most common contents for this roll-on. The roller ball applies a thin layer to the wrists or neck, so the fragrance is dispensed gradually and without waste. Clear glass does not protect the contents from light, so for light-sensitive fragrances, store the roll-on in the dark or in a box.
Can the glass roll-on be filled with water or an alcohol solution?
It can, but the roll-on is designed primarily for oil-based contents. Water-based and alcohol-based solutions are thin and the roller ball transfers them, but with alcohol-based contents, check the tightness of the seal between the roller ball and the neck, as well as the behaviour of the polypropylene roller ball. We recommend filling one unit and leaving it lying on its side for several days.
How much actually fits into the 10 ml roll-on?
It is filled up to the nominal volume, which is approximately 10 ml. The total brimful capacity of the bottle is larger and can be found in the parameters. The difference leaves room for the roller ball and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill the bottle right up to the neck, the roller ball cannot be pressed in and the contents overflow during fitting.
How do I clean the glass roll-on before first use?
Wash all three parts, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to air dry. Disinfection removes dust and residues from production, and thorough drying prevents drops of water from remaining in oil-based contents. Repeat the same procedure each time you refill.
Why does the roller ball in the roll-on not apply the contents?
The most common cause is contents that are too thick or a roller ball that is only partly pressed in. A roll-on needs a thin liquid that wets the roller ball. Thick oils, butters or gels are not transferred by it. Check that the roller ball is pressed in as far as it will go, turn the roll-on over and roll it over the skin several times until the roller ball is soaked.
