Product description
Tall amber glass bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml and an 18 mm threaded neck protects light-sensitive contents. Suitable for facial serums, botanical and fragrance oils, essential oil blends, tinctures, dropper products, and hair or beard care oils. The slim shape sits comfortably in the hand and dispenses well with a dropper or pump. The packaging is suitable for contact with cosmetics and for direct contact with food, so it also works for homemade herbal oils, syrups, or infusions.
Why choose amber glass
- Light protection – amber glass absorbs a large portion of UV radiation and visible light, slowing the oxidation of oils, fading of colorants, and degradation of light-sensitive active ingredients such as vitamin C, retinoids, and essential oils.
- Chemical resistance – glass does not react with its contents and does not leach packaging components into them. It withstands alcoholic tinctures, essential oils, and solvents that can soften or cloud ordinary plastics.
- Reusability – glass can be thoroughly washed and disinfected without any change in its properties, making it well suited for workshop use where packaging is filled repeatedly.
- Versatile neck – the 18 mm thread is one of the most common sizes for dropper and oil products, so the choice of closures is wide.
Nominal and total volume
Every container has two volumes. The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions and which is stated on the product label. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference provides room for a dropper or pump tube, allows the container to be closed without overflow, and accommodates slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Always fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Both values are listed in the product parameters.
When filling with a dropper, bear in mind that inserting the glass tube raises the liquid level. If you fill the bottle to the neck, the contents will overflow during closing and contaminate the thread, reducing the seal quality.
Closures and combinations
The bottle is sold on its own, without a closure. Droppers, pumps, and caps with the same neck type, as well as ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying seal integrity and dispensing performance with your specific formulation. This is especially important for thin oils and alcoholic tinctures, which tend to leak if the closure is not tightened sufficiently.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – we recommend washing the bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leaving it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in an oil-based or anhydrous product promotes microbial growth.
- Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with hot contents and avoid sudden temperature changes. A rapid shift from heat to cold can crack the glass. Allow emulsions and balms to cool to room temperature before filling.
- Labelling – the slim shape provides a cylindrical surface for a label. Container dimensions for sizing your label are listed in the parameters.
- Thicker products – the narrow neck is an advantage for dropper and oil products. Dense creams and balms are difficult to dispense through it; a jar is better suited for those.
- Recycling – glass belongs in glass collection and can be recycled repeatedly without any loss of quality.
Amber glass filters light but does not replace an antioxidant or preservation system. Oils prone to yellowing and products with a water phase require adequate protection within the formulation itself.
