Product description
The raw material is intended primarily for cosmetics for mature, sagging, tired and structurally weakened skin, where the goal is to support a firmer, smoother and more vital appearance. PDRN Phycopeptide combines the effect of plant-based PDRN with phycopeptides from chlorella, which represent a rich source of short peptide sequences and amino acids. The complex has been designed to target several levels of skin appearance: surface relief, the look of firmness, elasticity, skin cohesion and the support of a hydrated appearance.
The microalga Chlorella vulgaris is known for its high content of plant proteins, amino acids, vitamins and biologically interesting cellular components. In this complex it is used as a biotechnological source of active fractions. The manufacturing process includes the cultivation of chlorella, its processing and the enzymatic release of proteins, amino acids, phycopeptides and the PDRN fraction. After the enzymatic step, the enzyme is thermally inactivated and the resulting water-soluble solution is stabilized.
In cosmetic formulations, PDRN Phycopeptide is used as a premium active ingredient in serums, creams, masks and targeted products for the face, neck and décolleté. It is particularly suitable where the manufacturer aims to create an active anti-aging formulation of biotechnological origin, without a heavy greasy texture and with good tolerance in the aqueous phase.
Key benefits
- Plant-based PDRN alternative – the complex contains Sodium DNA of plant origin obtained from the microalga Chlorella vulgaris.
- Multi-active anti-aging effect – combines the PDRN fraction, chlorella extract, phycopeptides, amino acids and a moisturizing carrier system.
- Support of a firmer-looking skin – suitable for formulations targeting sagging skin, loss of elasticity, neck and décolleté.
- Phycopeptide complex – contains a broad spectrum of short peptide sequences from chlorella, in particular low-molecular-weight fractions suitable for cosmetic use.
- Support of the appearance of collagen structure – the raw material is intended for formulas aimed at a smoother, more compact and more elastic-looking skin.
- Support of comfort and hydrated appearance – the carrier system with glycerin and pentylene glycol contributes to a pleasant hydrating sensorial profile of the formulation.
- Water-soluble form – easy incorporation into serums, hydrogels, aqueous concentrates and oil-in-water emulsions.
- Suitable for modern biotechnological cosmetics – combines natural origin with functional technological processing.
- Targeted use for mature skin – particularly suitable for products for the face, eye area, neck, décolleté and areas with loss of firmness.
- Natural origin according to ISO 16128 – the declared content of natural origin is 100 %.
Suitable for products such as
- anti-aging facial serums for mature, tired and sagging skin,
- firming creams for the face, neck and décolleté,
- light emulsions focused on elasticity and a smoother-looking skin,
- eye serums and eye creams with an appropriately designed overall formula,
- gel serums with hyaluronic acid, panthenol or niacinamide,
- night masks with a regenerative focus and active concentrates,
- firming products for the décolleté and delicate areas with reduced elasticity,
- professional cosmetic products for tired-looking skin,
- premium facial treatment courses with biotechnological and peptide active ingredients,
- after-sun products focused on comfort, hydrated appearance and support of the skin barrier.
Use in formulation
- Recommended dosage: 2 % in the finished cosmetic formulation.
- Soluble in: water and in the aqueous phase of cosmetic preparations.
- Miscible with: aqueous serums, hydrogels, toners, oil-in-water emulsions, gel-creams and light cream bases.
- Compatible with: hyaluronic acid, glycerin, betaine, panthenol, allantoin, niacinamide, gentle peptides, fermented actives, plant extracts and moisturizing components.
- Incorporation: added to the aqueous phase or to the finished emulsion during cooling in order to preserve the quality of the active fractions.
- It is recommended to add it during the cooling step (at a temperature below 40 °C).
- Recommended formulation pH: approximately in a mildly acidic to physiological range suitable for facial cosmetics.
- Appearance of the raw material: translucent liquid of yellow to brown colour with a characteristic odour; over time a slight sediment may appear.
- Formulator’s note: when used in transparent gels, we recommend checking the final clarity, viscosity and colour stability, because the raw material may naturally contribute to a yellowish to brownish shade of the product.
- Combinations in anti-aging formulas: very suitable in combination with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, panthenol, betaine, ceramides, mild emulsifiers and non-irritating humectants.
- Combinations for sensitive skin: it is recommended to formulate without a high level of fragrance, without aggressive acidic systems and without an excessive amount of potentially irritating actives.
Safety and storage
- The mixture is not classified as hazardous according to the CLP Regulation.
- The raw material is intended as a cosmetic raw material for industrial and formulation use.
- When working, use clean tools, follow hygienic working procedures and prevent contamination of the raw material.
- For prolonged or repeated contact, it is recommended to use protective gloves and, when handling larger quantities, eye protection as well.
- After work, wash your hands and clean the working tools with an appropriate cleaning agent.
- Store in the original well-closed container at a temperature of approximately 15 – 25 °C.
- Protect from frost, direct sunlight, high temperature and sources of microbiological contamination.
- Over time a slight sediment may form; before use we recommend gently mixing the raw material.
- The final product containing water must be properly preserved and microbiologically stable.
- Before placing the final product into use or on the market, we recommend performing a stability test, microbiological quality test and tolerance test of the finished formula.
- Prevent larger amounts of the raw material from entering the sewage system, soil or watercourses.
FAQ
Yes, PDRN Phycopeptide is based on a microalgal origin and does not contain ingredients of animal origin. It is therefore suitable for vegan-oriented cosmetic formulas, provided that all other ingredients of the final product are also vegan.
No, it is a cosmetic active ingredient intended for topical use in cosmetic products. It does not act in the same way as injectable dermatological or aesthetic procedures and must not be presented as their substitute.
Yes, the raw material is water-soluble, and is therefore very suitable for oil-free serums, hydrating gels and aqueous concentrates. In such products it is necessary to choose an appropriate thickener and an effective preservation system.
Yes, it can also be used in products for the eye area, if the overall formula is designed to be gentle, non-stinging and suitable for this area. For eye products it is particularly important to verify the pH, preservation and tolerance of the finished preparation.
Humectant and barrier-supporting components are particularly suitable, for example hyaluronic acid, glycerin, betaine, panthenol, niacinamide, allantoin or gentle peptide complexes. When combining with very active acids or retinoids, it is advisable to perform a separate stability test.
Yes, since the raw material itself has a yellow to brown hue, it may slightly tint transparent gels or light emulsions. For products where complete clarity or a very light colour is important, we recommend preparing a trial sample.
It can also be used in products for more sensitive skin, but the overall composition of the formula is decisive. It is recommended to avoid a high level of fragrance, strong acids and components that may increase the risk of irritation.
