Product description

A 1000 ml amber plastic bottle with a black screw cap is a ready-made set for storing and dispensing larger volumes of oils, hydrosols and liquid cosmetic products. The amber tint reduces light transmission, so light-sensitive contents such as vegetable oils, hydrosols or tonics retain their scent and colour for longer. The bottle is made of PET, making it lightweight and shatterproof, which makes a litre-sized container easier to carry, pour from and store on a shelf.

The set is suitable as a bulk container for base and massage oils, hydrosols, facial tonics, shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps, or for storing finished phases or intermediates during cosmetic production. Both the bottle and the cap are approved for direct contact with food, so the set can also be used at home for oils, syrups, herbal infusions and extracts. Both components are also declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Declarations of conformity are listed with the product.

How the set works

The cap with a 28/410 thread screws directly onto the bottle neck and seals it without any additional parts. The contents are dispensed by pouring, so the set is primarily intended as a bulk storage and transport container. For precise dispensing of smaller quantities, it is practical to decant the contents into smaller bottles with a pump or dropper.

The seal quality depends on correct tightening of the cap and on the cleanliness of the thread. When filling, make sure no oil or gel residue remains on the neck, otherwise the cap will not tighten evenly. The straight body of the bottle provides ample space for a label.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a headspace for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes, so that nothing is forced out when the cap is screwed on. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

When filling viscous contents such as shampoos or liquid soaps, allow the foam and bubbles to settle before tightening the cap. This gives a more accurate fill level and a clean thread.

What is good to know

Preparation before first use – we recommend washing and rinsing the bottle and cap, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in oil-based contents promotes spoilage.
Aqueous, alcoholic and oil-based contents – PET tolerates hydrosols, tonics, alcoholic extracts and vegetable oils. Do not expose the container to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying the material behaviour in practice.
Repeated use – the bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection, preferably for the same type of contents. Before refilling, check the cap thread and the seal.
Caps – caps with the same neck type and ready-made bottle and cap combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and container behaviour with your specific formulation.
Recycling – the PET bottle and the HDPE cap are both recyclable and belong in plastic waste collection.

PET is not intended for filling with hot contents. Allow heated phases, decoctions or syrups to cool before filling. Do not store a filled bottle near a heat source or in direct sunlight, as the walls may deform.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber 1000 ml plastic bottle protect the contents from light?

Yes, the amber PET tint reduces light transmission and slows down light-induced changes to the contents. For vegetable oils, hydrosols or tonics this is particularly advantageous when storing bulk quantities for longer periods. However, light protection does not replace preservation or antioxidants if the contents require them.

How full should the 1000 ml plastic bottle be filled so that the cap seals properly?

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the top of the neck. The space above the liquid is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If you fill the bottle right to the neck, the contents will be forced into the thread when the cap is screwed on and the cap will not tighten cleanly.

Is the plastic bottle with the black cap suitable for food?

For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend first testing the container behaviour with a smaller quantity.

Can the 1000 ml plastic bottle be washed and reused?

Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. We recommend using them for the same type of contents, as oily and fragrant components are not completely removed from plastic. Before refilling, allow the container to dry and check the thread.
