Product description

The blue plastic bottle with a disc top cap is a complete set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, facial tonics, and massage oils. The bottle is made of PET, which is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for the bathroom, shower, and travel.

The disc top cap opens by pressing one side of the disc, which flips open the dispensing aperture on the opposite side. The contents are dispensed with one hand, and pressing the disc back closes the bottle again. The pink-gold matte outer shell of the cap is aluminium; the centre is white.

What the set is suitable for

Shower gels and shampoos – the squeezable bottle and narrow dispensing aperture allow an appropriate amount to be measured even with a wet hand.
Conditioners and body lotions – suitable for thinner emulsions that flow freely towards the neck.
Tonics, micellar waters, and cleansing gels – the contents are applied to a cotton pad drop by drop or in a thin stream.
Massage and body oils – the disc aperture dispenses oil slowly and in a controlled manner, minimising waste.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. A certificate for food contact applies to the bottle alone; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling conditions. Total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes.

The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The free space below the neck prevents the contents from being pushed out when fitting the cap and makes dispensing by squeezing easier.

What to know before filling

Before first use, both the bottle and cap should be washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and left to dry completely. Residual water inside the packaging increases the risk of microbial contamination, particularly in products with an aqueous phase.

PET is not resistant to high temperatures. Hot material can deform the bottle, so the product should only be filled once it has cooled down.

For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, we recommend carrying out a compatibility test with a filled sample. The appearance of the bottle, the seal of the cap, and the scent and colour of the contents should be monitored for several weeks.

Filled bottles should be stored away from direct sunlight. This is especially important for products containing sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils prone to oxidation.

The dimensions required for label design are listed in the parameters. The label should be applied to a dry, degreased surface — ideally before filling, or after thoroughly wiping the filled bottle.

A plastic bottle with a disc top cap is not suitable for thick creams and butters, as they flow poorly through the small dispensing aperture and a large amount of product remains trapped inside. The set is intended for liquid and semi-liquid products such as shower gels, shampoos, body lotions, tonics, and oils. For thick textures, a jar or pot is a better choice.

Does the blue plastic bottle protect the contents from light?

The blue colouring of the bottle cannot be relied upon as protection against light. The filled bottle should be stored away from direct sunlight, as should the empty packaging before filling. This is particularly important for products with sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils that oxidise easily.

Can a hot product be filled into a PET plastic bottle?

Hot products should not be filled into a PET bottle, as the material deforms at high temperatures. Shower gels, emulsions, and oils should be left to cool before filling. If a formulation requires hot filling, one bottle should be tested in advance to check whether the shape is retained at the given temperature.
