Product description

Plastic bottle, transparent 24/410, 200 ml

A lightweight and shatterproof PET bottle for cosmetic products where the contents should be visible. The transparent wall shows the colour of the contents and the remaining volume, making it suitable for tonics, facial and micellar waters, shower gels, shampoos, body lotions, and massage or body oils. A nominal volume of 200 ml and a 24/410 neck thread make it a versatile packaging for everyday skincare.

The bottle is suitable for cosmetic and technical use. The packaging material is compliant with applicable regulations for use with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available on the product page.

Why choose this bottle

  • Lightweight and shatterproof – PET weighs a fraction of glass and survives a drop on a bathroom floor. Ideal for the shower, travel, and postal shipping.
  • Transparency – the customer can see the product colour and how much is left. With coloured tonics, gel textures, or layered oils, this also becomes part of the product presentation.
  • Standard 24/410 neck – one of the most common thread types with a wide range of closures available. The bottle can therefore be used with products requiring different dispensing methods.
  • Practical volume – 200 ml is sufficient for rinse-off products and body care, while the bottle still fits comfortably in hand.

Nominal volume and brim-full volume

When filling, it helps to understand two figures found in the product specifications. Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions and corresponds to the amount declared on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between the two provides clearance for the closure, pump, or sprayer — part of which extends into the bottle — and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Always fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents will overflow when fitting the closure, or the bottle may leak after warming.

Gel and foaming products (shower gels, shampoos) trap air during mixing. Allow them to rest before filling so that the bottle receives a true 200 ml of product, not 200 ml of foam.

Choosing a closure

The bottle is sold without a closure. Closures with the same neck thread and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend testing the seal, dispensing performance, and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation. A thick body lotion behaves differently from a watery tonic, and each closure dispenses a different volume.

Good to know

Preparation before filling. Bottles are not sterile. Before first use, rinse them, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in the bottle dilutes the preservative system and unnecessarily compromises the microbiological stability of the product.

Filling temperature. PET is not designed for hot-fill. Allow emulsions, gels, and infusions to cool to approximately room temperature before filling. Otherwise the bottle wall may deform, and once the contents cool, the bottle can collapse inwards.

Aqueous, alcoholic, and oil-based fills. The bottle is suitable for aqueous solutions, emulsions, gels, and vegetable oils. For products with a high proportion of alcohol, essential oils, or solvents, we recommend testing the bottle's behaviour on a trial piece, particularly for prolonged contact. Some ingredients may soften or cloud the plastic over time.

Light. The transparent wall provides no light protection for the contents. Products sensitive to light — such as unstable active ingredients, unsaturated oils, or certain dyes — are better suited to amber glass or opaque plastic. In a transparent bottle, they are protected only by a cardboard carton or storage away from direct light.

For products that may continue to expand in packaging (fermented infusions, gas-releasing mixtures), do not use a tight-sealing closure and do not fill the bottle above the nominal volume.

Labelling. The straight cylindrical wall makes it easy to apply both labels and shrink sleeves. Label design dimensions are listed in the product specifications.

Reuse and recycling. The bottle can be reused after thorough washing and sanitisation. Empty bottles belong in sorted plastic waste collection according to the material code listed in the product specifications.

Frequently asked questions

Is the transparent PET bottle suitable for tonics and facial waters?
Yes, the transparent 200 ml PET bottle is suitable for tonics, facial waters, and micellar waters. Aqueous products seal well in PET, and the transparent wall lets you see both the colour and the remaining volume. Choose a closure to match the 24/410 thread and your preferred dispensing method.
Does the transparent PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the transparent PET bottle does not protect the contents from light. For light-sensitive products such as unsaturated oils or unstable active ingredients, amber glass or opaque plastic is more appropriate. If you wish to keep a transparent container, store the product away from direct sunlight or place it in a cardboard carton.
Can I fill a PET bottle with a warm emulsion or gel?
No, PET bottles are not filled with hot material. Allow emulsions, gels, and infusions to cool to approximately room temperature before filling. At higher temperatures the bottle wall may deform, and once the contents cool, the bottle can collapse, damaging both the appearance and the seal of the packaging.
How much product fits in the 200 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled to 200 ml, which is its nominal volume. The total brim-full volume is slightly larger, but this difference serves as clearance for the portion of the closure or pump that extends into the bottle, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Filling to the brim results in overflow when fitting the closure.
Is the PET bottle suitable for oils and products containing essential oils?
The PET bottle is suitable for vegetable and massage oils. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, we recommend testing the bottle's behaviour in advance on a trial piece under prolonged contact, as some ingredients may soften or cloud the plastic over time.
Can the PET bottle be reused?
Yes, the PET bottle can be reused after thorough washing and sanitisation with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Before refilling, check the thread and neck for damage or deformation, and leave the bottle to dry completely so that residual water does not weaken the preservation of the new product.
