Product description

A plastic bottle with a capacity of 1000 ml and a black screw cap is a ready-made complete set for filling larger volumes of liquid products: rinse-off shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, body lotions, massage and bath oils, or stock solutions for further dispensing. The transparent wall shows the contents and fill level, so during production and storage you can immediately see how much product remains and whether its appearance has changed. The bottle is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making it suitable for the workshop, bathroom, and transport.

The set is suitable for contact with cosmetics and is also approved for direct food contact — both the bottle and the cap. It can therefore be used for homemade oils, syrups, herbal extracts and infusions, not only for cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Rinse-off products in larger quantities – shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps that are used up quickly and for which a litre-size pack is practical for customers.
  • Stock packaging for dispensing – the finished product is stored in the litre bottle and transferred as needed into smaller retail containers with a pump or spray.
  • Oils and oil blends – massage oils, bath oils or base vegetable oils for in-house production.
  • Food use – homemade oils, syrups and extracts.

How the bottle and cap work together

The set consists of a round plastic bottle with a 28/410 neck finish and a matching black HDPE screw cap. The cap threads on easily and seals the bottle securely. It is a screw closure without a dispensing mechanism, so the contents are poured or decanted from the bottle. If the customer dispenses the product directly from the container, it is more practical to combine the litre stock bottle with smaller containers fitted with a pump or flip top.

The black cap on the transparent bottle looks clean and suits most labels. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When combining the bottle with a different closure, we recommend checking the seal and the container's behaviour with your specific formulation.

Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the container could dilute the product and increase the risk of microbial contamination.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between the two provides allowance for the thread and cap, for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes, and for safe closure without overflow. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Good to know

  • Transparency and light – the transparent wall does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to light, such as oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or products containing essential oils and certain active ingredients, should be stored in the dark or in a dark-coloured container.
  • Plastic and essential oils – higher concentrations of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents can stress the plastic over time. With such contents, we recommend a compatibility test with the filled container and monitoring of the seal, deformation and wall appearance.
  • Filling temperature – fill the product only after it has cooled to room temperature. Hot material can deform the plastic wall, and as it cools a vacuum forms inside the bottle that pulls it inward.
  • Labelling – the rounded shape requires a label that conforms to the wall's curvature. The bottle diameter and height are listed in the product specifications.
  • Reuse – both the bottle and the cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. When reusing, check the condition of the thread and the cap seal.
  • Recycling – both the bottle and the cap are made of plastic and, once emptied and rinsed, belong in the sorted plastic waste collection.

When filling rinse-off products containing surfactants, fill the bottle slowly and allow the foam to settle. Otherwise the actual volume of product in the bottle will differ from the nominal volume and the contents may overflow when closing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 1000 ml plastic bottle with a black cap suitable for food contact?
Yes, the set is approved for direct food contact — both the bottle and the cap. It is suitable for homemade oils, syrups, herbal extracts and infusions. It is also suitable for cosmetic products, so the same container serves in the workshop and in the kitchen. Documentation for food and cosmetic compliance can be found in the product specifications.
Does the transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the transparent bottle does not protect the contents from light. It is well suited to products where seeing the contents and fill level is an advantage, such as shampoos, shower gels or stock solutions. Oils and light-sensitive products should be stored in the dark or in a dark-coloured container.
How much product fits in the 1000 ml plastic bottle?
The bottle is designed to be filled to its nominal volume of 1000 ml. The total brim-full volume is somewhat larger, but this difference is an allowance for the thread, cap and expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Filling to the brim would make closing difficult and risk overflow, so the bottle should only be filled to the nominal volume.
Can the 1000 ml plastic bottle be used for oils and essential oils?
For base vegetable and massage oils, yes — the bottle is suitable for these. With higher concentrations of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, the plastic may be stressed over time. With such contents, we recommend carrying out a compatibility test with the filled container and monitoring the seal and wall appearance for several weeks.
How do I prepare the plastic bottle and cap before first use, and can they be reused?
Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. The container can be reused provided you clean it in the same way between batches and check the thread and cap seal. Always fill the product once it has cooled to room temperature.
Which closure fits the plastic bottle with a 28/410 neck finish?
Closures with the same 28/410 neck type fit the bottle. This set includes a black screw cap without a dispensing mechanism. If you need a pump, flip top or another type of closure, ready-made combinations and individual closures are available in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing behaviour with your specific formulation.
