Product description

A shower gel, shampoo or liquid soap in a large format needs a closure that opens with one hand, even in the shower. This set combines a 1,000 ml plastic bottle with a white push-pull cap and is ready to be filled with liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed repeatedly and in larger quantities. The transparent wall shows the contents and the fill level, the plastic is lightweight and shatter-resistant, so the bottle holds up in the bathroom, in the shower and during transport.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. A food-contact certificate applies separately to the bottle only; the push-pull cap does not carry one. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products, not for food.

How to work with the set

  • One-handed dispensing – the push-pull cap has a retractable nozzle. Pulling it open allows the contents to pour or be pressed out by squeezing the bottle; pushing the nozzle back closes the bottle. No unscrewing or setting aside the cap with wet hands.
  • Flow control – the amount dispensed is regulated by tilting the bottle and pressing the wall. Thinner contents flow freely; thicker ones are squeezed out.
  • Transparent wall – both the customer and the manufacturer can see the colour and the remaining amount. This is practical for larger formats that are used over an extended period.
  • Lightweight and durable packaging – the plastic bottle weighs a fraction of glass, will not shatter if dropped, and does not increase shipping costs.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle is intended to be filled up to its nominal volume, meaning the quantity for which the container is designed under normal use. The total volume up to the rim is greater, reaching up to the neck. The difference provides headspace for the closure and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. Filling the bottle to the brim would cause overflow once the cap is fitted, or leave the wall under pressure. Always use the nominal volume when filling, not the brim-to-brim capacity.

Suitable products include

The push-pull closure is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity contents that are dispensed repeatedly:

  • shower gels, shampoos and conditioners with a liquid consistency,
  • liquid soaps and hand wash gels in large formats for home or salon use,
  • body lotions and lighter emulsions that can be pressed out by squeezing the bottle,
  • massage and body oils, bath oils and bases that are topped up into smaller containers,
  • micellar waters, toners and rinse-off preparations used in larger volumes.

Thick creams, butters and scrubs with solid particles are difficult to dispense through the narrow push-pull nozzle. A jar or pot is more suitable for those.

Before filling a larger volume, test dispensing with a small amount of product. If the contents flow too fast, the formulation can be slightly thickened. If it cannot be pressed out, it is too thick for this container.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash and disinfect both the bottle and the cap before first use, then allow them to dry completely. Residual water in the container shortens the stability of water-based formulations.
  • Light – transparent plastic does not protect the contents from light. Products with light-sensitive ingredients (unsaturated oils, vitamins, certain essential oils) should be stored away from direct sunlight or kept in an outer container.
  • Essential oils and solvents – for contents with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, verify the behaviour of the plastic and the tightness of the closure with the specific formulation. Standard emulsions, gels and vegetable oils do not cause problems.
  • Reuse – the container can be reused after thorough washing and drying. Rinse the push-pull nozzle separately; product residue inside it dries out.
  • Labelling – the rounded shape of the bottle is suitable for a wraparound label. Label dimensions are listed in the product parameters.
  • Closures – the set already includes the push-pull cap. Other closures with the same neck type and further ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range.
  • Recycling – both the bottle and the cap are plastic and belong in sorted plastic waste. Empty the container before disposal.

The plastic bottle is not intended for filling with hot contents. Allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 1,000 ml plastic bottle with a push-pull cap suitable for shower gel?
Yes, the set is suitable for shower gels, shampoos and liquid soaps that are dispensed repeatedly. The push-pull closure opens with one hand and the contents are pressed out by squeezing the bottle. A liquid to medium-viscosity consistency is required. Very thick gels are difficult to dispense through the narrow nozzle.
Can the push-pull cap be used with oil?
Yes, vegetable and massage oils dispense well through a push-pull closure due to their low viscosity. With the nozzle closed, the container is sealed. However, we recommend verifying leak-tightness during transport or with contents that have a higher proportion of essential oils, using the specific formulation.
Does the transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent plastic allows light to pass through. Products with light-sensitive ingredients, such as unsaturated oils or vitamins, should be stored away from direct sunlight, or an opaque or dark container should be used instead. For standard rinse-off products used in the bathroom, the transparency is not an issue.
How much product can be filled into the 1,000 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled to its nominal volume, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is greater, and the difference provides headspace for the closure and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. Filling to the brim would cause overflow once the cap is fitted.
Is the bottle and push-pull cap set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. A food-contact certificate applies separately to the bottle only; the push-pull cap does not carry one, so the set is intended for cosmetic products. For food use, the bottle must be combined with a cap that carries a food-contact certificate.
How should the bottle and push-pull cap be prepared before first filling?
Before first filling, wash the container, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the push-pull cap with the nozzle extended so that the channel through which the contents flow is also cleaned. Fill the container with product that has cooled to room temperature.
