Product description

A ready-to-use set for large-format packaging: a clear plastic bottle 1000 ml with a round shape and a matte black flip-top cap with a 28/410 neck thread. The combination is intended for liquid and gel cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle – shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps, and body lotions. The clear plastic reveals the contents and their colour; the matte black cap gives the packaging a clean, neutral look that works well with custom labels. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

How the set works

The flip-top cap opens with a single thumb movement and snaps shut just as easily after use. Dispensing is done by squeezing the bottle: the contents flow through the small opening in the cap, allowing good control over the amount without fully opening the bottle. It works best with medium to high viscosity contents such as gels, shampoos, or lotions.

The cap threads onto a 28/410 neck. If you want to pair the bottle with a different type of closure, caps with the same neck size and other ready-to-use combinations are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour, and compatibility of the packaging with your specific formulation.

The flip-top cap is not designed as a transport closure. When shipping finished products, test the seal of a filled bottle placed on its side and, if necessary, add a tamper seal or transport tape over the closure.

Suitable for products such as

  • Shower gels and liquid soaps – the 1000 ml volume corresponds to a larger home or salon size; the flip-top allows convenient dispensing directly in the shower or at the sink.
  • Shampoos and conditioners – thicker textures dispense through the cap opening in a controlled manner without opening the entire bottle.
  • Body lotions and massage emulsions – squeeze dispensing works reliably for medium-viscosity emulsions; a different type of packaging is more suitable for very thick creams.
  • Refill stock for topping up – the larger volume works well as a reserve for refilling smaller containers in the bathroom or for travel.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under standard filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim – an overfilled bottle is harder to close and may leak around the thread when squeezed.

Useful things to know

  • Preparation before first filling – we recommend washing both the bottle and cap, sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing them to dry completely. Residual moisture inside the packaging can reduce product stability.
  • Light – clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Products with light-sensitive ingredients, such as those with a higher proportion of essential oils or plant oils prone to oxidation, should be stored away from direct light or packed in a dark container.
  • Essential oils and solvents – for contents with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or other solvents, verify the behaviour of the plastic with your specific formulation, especially under prolonged contact.
  • Heat – filling with hot contents is not recommended. Allow the product to cool before filling to prevent deformation of the bottle.
  • Reuse – after thorough cleaning and sanitisation, the set can be reused. Before refilling, check that the cap still snaps firmly shut and that the opening is not blocked by dried product.
  • Labelling – the rounded shape of the bottle requires a label adapted to the curvature; bottle dimensions are listed in the product parameters. The matte black cap is colour-neutral and suits a wide range of labels.
  • Food – the food-contact certificate covers the bottle separately; the cap does not carry such a declaration. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic use only.
  • Recycling – both the bottle and the cap are made of plastic and belong in sorted plastic waste.

For very thin liquids such as tonics or micellar waters, dispensing through a flip-top is difficult to control and the contents may seep out after snapping the cap shut. A bottle with a spray pump or a disc-top pump is more appropriate for such products.

Frequently asked questions

Is the clear 1000 ml plastic bottle with a flip-top cap suitable for shower gel and shampoo?
Yes, this set is best suited precisely for gel and medium-viscosity products. The contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle through the flip-top opening, allowing good control over the amount without fully opening the bottle. The 1000 ml volume corresponds to a larger home or salon size.
Does the clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear plastic does not block light. Products with light-sensitive ingredients – for example those containing essential oils or plant oils prone to oxidation – should be stored away from direct light or packed in a dark container. For standard rinse-off products such as shower gels and shampoos, a clear bottle is generally adequate.
Can the 1000 ml bottle and flip-top cap set be used for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use. The food-contact certificate covers the bottle separately; the cap does not carry such a declaration. For homemade syrups, oils, or infusions, choose a combination in which all parts of the packaging hold a food-contact approval.
How much should be filled into the 1000 ml bottle?
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total capacity up to the neck is larger, and the difference serves as a margin for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle is harder to close and may leak around the thread when squeezed.
How should the plastic bottle with flip-top cap be prepared before filling, and can it be reused?
Before first use, we recommend washing both the bottle and cap, sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing them to dry completely. After thorough cleaning, the set can be reused. Before refilling, check that the cap still snaps firmly shut and that the opening is not blocked by dried product.
Does the flip-top cap seal properly during transport of the finished product?
The flip-top cap is designed primarily for convenient dispensing, not as a transport closure. For gel and thicker contents it typically seals adequately; for thin liquids it may seep when placed on its side. Before shipping, we recommend testing the seal of a filled bottle and adding a tamper seal or transport tape as needed.
