Plastic bottle, clear round, black cap and dropper, 1000 ml

A one-litre plastic bottle with a black cap and dropper insert is a bulk container for thin liquids dispensed in small doses. The dropper seated in the neck slows the flow, so the contents are dispensed drop by drop or in a thin stream without spilling all at once when the bottle is tilted. The transparent plastic lets you see the colour and the remaining volume. The bottle is lightweight and shatter-resistant on impact, which is practical for everyday handling at one-litre capacity.

Dispensing and closing

The bottle is filled through the open neck. The dropper is pressed into the neck after filling, and the bottle is sealed with the screw cap, which covers the dropper.

• Dispensing speed – depends on how thin the contents are. Aqueous and alcoholic solutions flow quickly; oils more slowly and in a more continuous stream.
• Thick contents – gels, lotions and creams pass through the dropper with difficulty or not at all. A different closure type is more suitable for these.
• Drop size – is not calibrated and varies with the contents and the angle of the bottle. The dropper makes dispensing easier, but precise amounts for formulations should be weighed.
• Leak-tightness – verify with your specific formulation before transport or horizontal storage, especially with oils and alcoholic solutions.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling and corresponds to the figure in the product name. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the allowance for the dropper, which extends into the neck, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

Good to know

• Preparation before first use – wash the bottle, cap and dropper, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water reduces stability, particularly in anhydrous products.
• Filling temperature – allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling. Hot filling can deform the plastic.
