Product description
A red safety cap with a tamper-evident ring seals the container so it is immediately visible whether it has already been opened. The ring separates from the cap on first opening, serving as an authenticity seal. The customer thus receives a demonstrably unopened product.
The red colour also has a practical purpose. It makes it easier to distinguish variants, fragrances or batches within a product line, and the cap is clearly visible on a counter or shelf.
How the tamper-evident ring works
The ring is connected to the cap by thin bridges. When first closed, it catches under the neck bead of the container. On first opening, the bridges break and the ring remains detached.
- Visible integrity check – an intact ring means the container has not been opened since filling.
- Content protection during sale – a product displayed on a shelf or shipped by post cannot be silently opened and reclosed.
- Normal repeated closing – once the ring has detached, the cap continues to function as an ordinary screw closure.
The authenticity seal works only once. The cap is therefore fitted to the container only after filling, not as a test before filling.
What the cap is suitable for
It is useful wherever container integrity is part of product trust: for cosmetics from small-scale production sold at markets and online, for gift packaging, and for samples sent to customers. The cap is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration is stated in the product parameters.
The ring requires a neck with a bead for it to catch on. Containers with the same neck type and ready-made container-and-cap combinations are available from Handymade.
What is good to know
- Preparation before use – the cap is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. The ring must be handled with care so the bridges do not break before the cap is fitted.
- Fitting – the cap is screwed on straight and tightened until the ring clicks under the neck bead. A cap fitted at an angle may damage the ring or fail to seal.
- Leak test – with oily, alcoholic and thin aqueous contents it is worth leaving one filled unit on its side for several days and checking for leaks.
Before filling an entire batch, it is worth closing one test unit and opening it. This verifies that the ring catches reliably on the given neck and separates cleanly on opening.
