Product description

The set of plastic containers for bath bomb making is a tool for preparing and processing a fizzing mixture of baking soda and citric acid. The plastic is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making the containers easy to handle even when the mixture needs to be worked quickly. If dropped, there are no sharp fragments.

The set is suitable for beginners trying bath bombs for the first time, as well as for small workshops producing repeatedly and in multiple scents or colours. Containers dedicated solely to bath bombs have a practical benefit: residues of dyes and fragrances are not transferred to other products.

Which products is the set suitable for

  • Bath bombs – classic mixture of baking soda, citric acid, oils or butters, and fragrance.
  • Shower steamers – mixtures with a higher proportion of essential oils.
  • Foot bath fizz tablets – smaller batches of mixture with salt or herbal additives.
  • Fizzing bath powders and salts – loose mixtures that are not pressed and are filled directly into packaging.

How to work with the containers

The fizzing mixture reacts to moisture. Even a small amount of water triggers the reaction between baking soda and citric acid, causing the mixture to start working in the container before it can be shaped. The containers must therefore be clean and completely dry before use begins, including edges and folds where water tends to collect after washing.

Liquid components (vegetable oil, melted butter, fragrance or essential oil, Polysorbate 80, colourant) are incorporated into the dry mixture gradually, in small portions, with continuous stirring.

A correctly prepared mixture resembles damp sand. When pressed in the palm it holds its shape and does not crumble.

Good to know

  • Essential and fragrance oils – undiluted, some plastics can cloud or damage their surface. They should only be added to the containers once incorporated into the mixture, never on their own.
  • Colouring – intense dyes may leave a tint on the plastic that cannot be fully removed. This does not affect function, but for light-coloured mixtures it helps to keep containers separated by colour.
  • Cleaning – by hand, in lukewarm water with washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Steel wool and abrasive cleaners will scratch the surface.

Food-contact approval is not available for this set. Use the containers for cosmetics manufacturing only and do not return them to kitchen use.

Frequently asked questions

What is the set of plastic containers for bath bomb making used for?
The set of plastic containers is used for preparing and processing a fizzing mixture of baking soda and citric acid. It is suitable for bath bombs, shower steamers, foot bath fizz tablets, and loose fizzing powders. It is useful for both beginners and small workshops producing repeatedly in multiple scents and colours.
Why does the fizzing mixture start reacting in the container before it is finished?
The cause is moisture. Baking soda and citric acid react as soon as water reaches them — for example from a container that was not dried thoroughly, from humid air, or from a water-based colourant added all at once. It helps to dry the containers thoroughly, work in a dry room, work in smaller batches, and add liquid components gradually.
Can essential oils damage plastic bath bomb containers?
Undiluted essential and fragrance oils can, with prolonged contact, cloud or damage some plastics. In a bath bomb mixture, however, they are dispersed in dry ingredients and oil, so contact with the plastic is brief and at low concentration. It is sufficient not to pour them into the container on their own and to wash the containers promptly after use.
How are plastic bath bomb containers cleaned after use?
Plastic bath bomb containers are washed by hand in lukewarm water with washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Residues of dry mixture dissolve in water; the greasy film from oils and butters is removed by the washing-up liquid. Hot water and dishwashers are best avoided, and steel wool will scratch the surface. Before the next use the containers must dry completely.
Can plastic bath bomb containers be used for food?
This is not recommended. Food-contact approval is not available for the set of plastic bath bomb containers, so it is intended for cosmetics manufacturing only. After use with fragrance oils and dyes, traces of scent and colour may also remain in the plastic and could transfer to food.
