Product description

A glass jar made of amber glass with a silver lid is a complete set for creams and butters with a nominal volume of 50 ml. Amber glass filters light, protecting contents containing plant oils, butters, vitamins or essential oils from faster oxidation and loss of scent. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

The 50 ml volume corresponds to standard packaging for a face or eye cream, balm, or smaller whipped body butter. Amber glass has a premium appearance and the wide lid is easy to label.

What the set consists of and how it works

  • Glass jar – a heavier container made of amber glass with a wide mouth, from which cream or butter can be conveniently scooped right to the bottom. Glass does not react with oils or essential oils and does not absorb scents.
  • Silver lid – a screw-on plastic lid with a soft foam insert on the inside. When tightened, the insert presses against the rim of the mouth and seals the contents to prevent drying out or absorbing surrounding scents.
  • Inner liner – a thin plastic disc placed directly on the surface of the cream after filling. It reduces contact between the contents and the air beneath the lid, protects the surface during transport, and acts as a hygienic barrier between the product and the lid.

Suitable for products such as

  • Face and eye creams – including emulsions with active ingredients sensitive to light.
  • Body butters and balms – anhydrous products made from plant butters and oils, where light protection and a tight seal against scent loss are important.
  • Lip balms and solid perfumes – small amounts of product scooped with a finger from the wide mouth.
  • Thick treatment preparations – firmer consistency, scooped from the jar with a spatula.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the jar is intended for during normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the inner liner and lid, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The jar should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the liner has nowhere to sit and the product gets pushed onto the thread when closing. Both figures are listed in the product parameters.

Fill creams and whipped butters once they have cooled to the consistency they will have in the finished product. A hot emulsion or melted butter changes volume as it sets, the surface sinks or ripples, and the inner liner then does not sit flat.

What is good to know

Before first use, we recommend washing the jar, lid and liner, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Glass can withstand hot water, but clean the plastic lid with the foam insert and the thin disc with lukewarm water and allow to air dry, not on a radiator.

Glass is heavier and more fragile than plastic, so the set is better suited to products used at home, on a dressing table or in the bathroom, rather than in travel packaging. The weight of the glass also gives the jar stability and the product a more premium appearance.

The lid is made of plastic, so we recommend that concentrated essential oils or products with a high solvent content do not come into direct contact with the sealing insert in the lid. When filling to the nominal volume and using the inner liner, this contact does not occur.

The jar can be reused after thorough washing. Glass belongs in glass recycling, the plastic lid and liner in plastic recycling. When using your own combination with a different closure of the same neck type, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

The set is declared for contact with cosmetics. It is not intended for filling food products, homemade syrups or herbal infusions.

Frequently asked questions

Is the amber glass jar suitable for creams with sensitive active ingredients?
Yes, amber glass filters light penetration and thus slows the oxidation of light-sensitive ingredients such as plant oils, vitamins or certain plant extracts. It does not provide complete darkness, so store the finished product away from direct sunlight regardless. For creams with highly unstable ingredients, it is advisable to verify stability in the finished packaging.
What is the inner liner in the glass jar for?
The inner liner is a thin plastic disc placed directly on the surface of the cream or butter after filling. It limits contact between the product and the air beneath the lid, protects the surface during transport, and separates the contents from the lid. Each time the product is used, the liner is removed and placed back on the surface after taking out cream.
How much cream fits in the 50 ml glass jar?
The jar is filled with 50 ml of product, which is its nominal volume. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger, but this difference serves as a reserve for the inner liner, the lid, and expansion of the contents. For thick creams and butters, calculate the weight according to the density of your formulation, not the same figure in grams.
Can the glass jar with lid be reused?
Yes, both the glass jar and the lid can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Wash the glass with hot water and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol; clean the plastic lid and inner liner with lukewarm water. Before refilling, all parts must be completely dry to prevent water from getting into the cream.
Is the amber glass jar also suitable for anhydrous body butter?
Yes, anhydrous butters and balms are suitable for this jar, as glass does not react with oils and the amber colour slows their yellowing and loss of scent. Fill the butter once it has already cooled or solidified, so that its volume does not change during setting and the inner liner sits on a flat surface.
