Product description

A medicinal glass bottle, flat, 250 ml with a black cap with a dropper is a ready-made combination of container and closure for liquid products dispensed in drops or in a small stream. The amber glass protects the contents from light, the dropper in the cap allows precise dosing without spillage, and the volume of 250 ml matches larger packages that are used over a longer period – massage and body oils, hair oils, bath oils, tinctures, herbal extracts, or liquid concentrates.

The set is approved for direct contact with food, so it is also suitable for homemade oils, syrups, flavoured vinegars, or herbal extracts for the kitchen. It is also declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. "Medicinal" refers to the shape of the bottle, not its use – it is a classic flat shape with straight sides that is stable on a shelf and sits well in the hand.

What the set offers

  • Protection from light – amber glass dampens light, which accelerates the oxidation of oils, changes in scent, and fading of colour. For products with vegetable oils, essential oils, or sensitive active ingredients, this is a practical advantage over clear glass.
  • Dosing in drops – the dropper in the cap dispenses the contents in drops or in a thin stream depending on the tilt of the bottle. It is suitable for oils and liquids of low to medium viscosity where you want to control the amount without a pump.
  • Glass without odour residue – glass does not absorb scents or colour from the contents, so the bottle can be reused for another product after thorough washing.
  • Flat shape – straight sides provide a large flat area for a label, and the bottle takes up less depth on a shelf than a cylindrical bottle of the same volume.
  • One piece, two parts – the cap with the dropper has the same neck type as the bottle, you do not have to choose it separately, and it fits the thread without further checking.

What the set is suitable for

The 250 ml volume with a dropper is suitable where a product is used regularly, but the individual dose is small or medium:

  • body and massage oils – a few drops or a short stream into the palm, without spilling during a massage;
  • hair oils and oil treatments for the lengths of the hair;
  • bath oils and oil bath additives;
  • tinctures, infusions, and alcohol-based extracts – the dropper makes it easier to dose into drinks or for further processing;
  • food oils, syrups, and flavoured vinegars – thanks to the set's certification for food contact;
  • semi-finished products for your own production – a larger amount of base oil or mixture from which you dispense into smaller containers.

For thick serums, gels, and emulsions with higher viscosity, the dropper is not suitable – the contents pass through it slowly or not at all. For such products, a pump or a closure with a larger opening is better.

Nominal and total volume

For each container we state two volumes. The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling, and it is this volume that the product label refers to. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap with the dropper and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents get into the dropper and the cap does not seat correctly.

If the product will be exposed to heat, for example in a bathroom or during transport in summer, fill oils and alcohol-based infusions slightly below the nominal volume. Expanding contents in a full bottle can push liquid through the dropper.

What is good to know

Preparation before first filling. Before first use, we recommend washing both the bottle and the cap with warm water and a mild cleaning agent, rinsing, disinfecting with izopropylalkoholom or etanolom, and letting them dry completely upside down. Residual water in the neck or in the dropper shortens the stability of anhydrous products.

Reuse. The glass can be reused without limit as long as it is not damaged. The cap with the dropper is made of polypropylene and can also be reused after thorough washing. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, it is advisable to check after prolonged contact whether the dropper has retained its shape and tightness.

Glass and heat. Avoid sudden temperature changes – let hot contents cool before filling and do not pour hot water into a cold bottle.

Tightness with a specific formulation. Before filling a larger batch, we recommend a test with a single bottle: fill to the nominal volume, close it, lay it on its side, and leave it for several days. This verifies the tightness of the cap as well as the behaviour of the dropper with your viscosity.

Labelling. The flat front and back are suitable for a label. With amber glass, labels with a light background that contrast with the dark contents look good.

Closures. The set comes with a cap with a dropper. If you need a different type of closure, you will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying tightness and dosing with a specific formulation.

Recycling. After use, the bottle is sorted as glass and the cap as plastic; separate them before disposal.

The dropper is not a child-resistant closure. If you fill tinctures with a higher alcohol content or concentrates of essential oils, store the bottle out of the reach of children – the cap can be unscrewed with ordinary force.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 250 ml amber glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass dampens light, which accelerates the oxidation of oils and the breakdown of sensitive active ingredients. For vegetable oils, blends with essential oils, and tinctures, an amber bottle is therefore more suitable than a clear one. However, glass does not provide complete protection from light, so it is still better to store the bottle away from direct sunlight.
Can the glass bottle with a dropper be used for thicker serums or gels?
No, the dropper is intended for liquids of low to medium viscosity, such as oils, tinctures, and infusions. Thick serums, gels, and emulsions pass through it slowly or stop. For such products, a pump or a closure with a larger opening on the same neck type is more suitable.
Is the set of a glass bottle with a dropper cap suitable for food?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper cap individually have certification for direct food contact, so the set as a whole is suitable for food use. It is suitable for homemade oils, syrups, flavoured vinegars, or herbal extracts. The set is likewise declared as suitable for cosmetics.
To what volume is the 250 ml glass bottle filled?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The difference between the nominal and total volume is a reserve for the dropper in the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you overfill the bottle, liquid gets into the dropper, the cap does not seat, and the contents may leak out on first opening.
Is the glass bottle with a dropper suitable for alcohol-based tinctures and infusions?
Yes, glass is resistant to both alcohol and plant infusions and does not change their taste or scent. The dropper cap is made of polypropylene, which handles common alcohol concentrations. For long-term storage of concentrates with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the tightness of the dropper regularly. The bottle has no child-resistant closure, so store tinctures out of the reach of children.
