Product description
Glass bottle, vial, 28 mm, rose-gold cap, 1 l is a ready-made set for storing larger quantities of cosmetic raw materials and products: a one-litre bottle made of amber glass and an aluminium cap in a rose-gold shade. Amber glass dampens light, making the set particularly suitable for contents that are sensitive to light – vegetable and essential oils, oil macerates, hydrosols, tonics, alcoholic tinctures or stocks of intermediate products awaiting further processing.
Given its volume, this is more of a storage and workshop bottle than a counter-top packaging item. It will be appreciated by manufacturers preparing larger batches, massage and cosmetic studios, as well as customers who want to transfer raw materials from their original packaging into glass. The rose-gold cap gives the packaging a neat appearance when the bottle stands on a shelf in a studio or serves as gift packaging for a larger volume.
Why amber glass with an aluminium cap
- Light protection – amber glass absorbs a large portion of the light that accelerates oil oxidation and the degradation of sensitive components. The contents will thus retain their scent and colour longer than in a clear container.
- Inert material – glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol or oil-based solvents, making it suitable even where plastic might soften or absorb the scent of the contents.
- Cap seal – the aluminium cap has a foam sealing insert on the inside that sits against the neck and prevents the contents from leaking or evaporating. The cap is lightweight and does not add weight to the bottle.
- Easy to use – the threaded neck is easy to fill via a funnel, simple to clean, and pours cleanly once opened.
What the set is suitable for
- Vegetable oils and macerates – larger quantities of base oils for making creams, balms and massage oils; dark glass slows their oxidation and change of scent.
- Hydrosols and tonics – water-based contents that are gradually decanted into smaller bottles with a spray or dropper.
- Alcoholic tinctures and extracts – alcohol in glass dissolves nothing and does not escape through the container wall; the sealing insert in the cap limits evaporation through the neck.
- Intermediates and stocks – dissolved active substances, glycerine extracts, surfactant bases or finished shampoos and shower gels prior to filling into retail packaging.
Nominal volume and brim-full volume
The bottle is intended to be filled to the nominal volume, i.e. the volume for which the packaging is designed under standard filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, which is particularly important for oils and alcoholic solutions. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will be pushed against the seal when closed and will overflow on first opening. Exact values for both volumes can be found in the product parameters.
Glass tolerates sudden temperature changes poorly. Do not pour hot oil or a heated macerate into a cold bottle – allow the contents to cool to at least lukewarm temperature and tighten the cap only after complete cooling to prevent a vacuum forming inside the container.
Good to know
- Preparation before first use – wash the bottle and cap with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse, disinfect with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in oily or anhydrous contents promotes microbial growth.
- Reuse – glass withstands repeated washing and disinfection without any change in its properties. Before reusing the cap, check it: the sealing insert must be intact and free of residues from the previous contents, otherwise it will not seal.
- Tightening the cap – the aluminium cap is tightened by hand. Excessive force will not improve the seal; on the contrary, it may deform the thin aluminium shell and damage the thread.
- Other closures – additional closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations of this bottle with a different closure are available from Handymade. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal integrity and behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation.
- Contact with cosmetics and food – the set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone has certification for direct food contact; the cap does not, which is why the set as a whole is not intended for food use. Declarations of conformity are available with the product.
- Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling, the aluminium cap into metal recycling; separate them before disposal.
If you use the bottle as a storage container for oils, decant from it into smaller containers and keep the remainder as full as possible – less air above the surface slows oxidation just as effectively as the amber glass.
