Product description
A glass bottle, blue dropper bottle with a black-gold dropper is a small dispensing container for 5 ml of content. It is suitable wherever concentrated preparations are used with precise drop-by-drop dosing. Blue glass reduces light exposure, helping to protect light- and oxidation-sensitive components. The dropper allows you to take only the required amount without unnecessarily exposing the remaining contents to air.
The set is particularly suitable for facial serums in small volumes, essential oil blends, concentrated oil serums for face or hair, samples and testers for customers, as well as for storing small amounts of active ingredients that are dosed drop by drop.
How the set works
The bottle has a dropper bottle shape with a narrow neck and thread; the dropper screws onto it as a cap. The gold cap with a black detail also serves as a grip: after unscrewing, you hold both the dropper and the cap in your hand, and the contents are drawn into the glass tube by squeezing the silicone bulb. The glass tube does not react with oils or alcoholic solutions, which is why this type of dropper is also suitable for blends with essential oils, which tend to damage soft plastics over time.
Once screwed on, the dropper seals and the bottle can be carried in a bag or sent to customers. When filling, it is important not to fill the container all the way to the neck: when the dropper is screwed on, its tube inserts into the bottle and the contents must have room to shift.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is intended for standard filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the inserted dropper tube, for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes, and to prevent the contents from leaking out through the neck when opening. The container should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is stated in the parameters.
Before first filling, wash the bottle and dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil preparation shorten its shelf life, and an anhydrous product does not contain a preservative to neutralise them.
Suitable for products such as
- Oil serums for the face – concentrated blends of plant oils with active ingredients, dosed in a few drops.
- Essential oil blends – blue glass protects volatile components from light; the glass tube withstands their effects.
- Water-based and glycerine serums – in small volumes suitable as a sample or tester. Water-based preparations require preservation as in any other container.
- Alcoholic solutions and tinctures for cosmetic use – both glass and the glass dropper tolerate alcohol without change.
- Samples and travel sizes – small volume is practical for trying a product before purchasing a larger size.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food, so it is not suitable for edible oils, syrups or infusions for internal use.
What's good to know
Label. The bottle has a small cylindrical surface, so a narrow wrap-around label or a small sticker with the name and batch number is suitable. For serums, it is recommended to also include the date of opening on the label.
Reuse. Both the glass and the dropper can be reused after washing and disinfection. We recommend checking the silicone bulb to ensure it is not hardened or cracked. In that case it loses suction and the dropper stops drawing.
Heat and glass. Fill the contents cooled. A hot oil phase or a sudden temperature change can damage the glass and will also change the volume of the contents, reducing the reserve below the neck.
Metal cap. The gold cap is aluminium with a plastic insert; a light turn is sufficient when screwing. Over-tightening can deform the insert and will not improve the seal — quite the opposite.
Recycling. The bottle goes into glass recycling; the dropper is made of mixed materials and should be sorted according to local rules.
Always screw the dropper back on after use. An open bottle with a small volume has a high ratio of surface area to content, so oils in it oxidise faster than in a larger container.
Caps with the same neck type as this bottle, and ready-made container + cap combinations, are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
