Product description
The blue glass bottle with dropper, 50 ml, is designed for cosmetics that are dispensed drop by drop: facial serums, facial and hair oils, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, or concentrates of active ingredients. Blue glass protects the contents from light, so it is especially suitable for oil-based and active ingredients that oxidise, change colour or lose their fragrance more quickly in light. The black matte dropper with a glossy stripe gives the bottle a uniform dark look and allows you to measure out a few drops without the contents touching your hands.
The set includes the bottle and a dropper with a thread for its neck. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The set is not intended for food contact. The medicine bottle shape with straight walls and a narrow neck sits well in the hand and takes up little space on a shelf, which you will appreciate when making a series of several fragrances or serum variants.
What it is suitable for
- Facial serums – water-based and oil-based serums where only a few drops are dispensed per use.
- Facial and hair oils – vegetable oils and their blends, which are sensitive to light and oxidation. In dark glass they stay fresh longer than in a clear container.
- Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – massage and aromatherapy blends where the dropper makes it easier to dispense precisely onto the palm or into the bath.
- Concentrates and active ingredients – boosters for creams, ampoule treatments or homemade concentrates that are added drop by drop to another product.
- Samples and test batches – when developing a recipe, 50 ml is enough to test the stability and behaviour of the product without filling a larger container.
How to use the dropper
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a plastic thread that screws onto the neck of the bottle. Squeezing the bulb draws in the contents, and releasing it dispenses them drop by drop. The size of the drop depends on the viscosity of the contents. Liquid serums and light oils drip evenly, thicker oils more slowly and in larger drops. Very thick or gel products are difficult to draw up with a dropper; a different type of closure is more suitable for them.
After each use, we recommend wiping the neck of the bottle so that dried oil does not build up on the thread and the dropper can be tightened without residue.
The contents are dispensed more precisely when the tube of the dropper is immersed only just below the surface before drawing up, not all the way to the bottom. When the bottle is full, squeeze the bulb only slightly, otherwise more will be drawn up than fits in the tube.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – we recommend washing the bottle and dropper, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product shortens its shelf life and promotes the growth of microorganisms.
- Glass and heat – a hot oil phase or a freshly heated product should not be poured directly into glass; let it cool down first. A rapid change in temperature puts stress on the glass.
- Reuse – after washing and disinfection, the glass bottle can be used again. With the dropper, it is worth checking the elasticity of the bulb and the cleanliness of the tube; residues of old oil oxidise and transfer an odour to the new contents.
- Other closures – the bottle has the standard neck type given in the parameters; closures with the same neck and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour with your specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling; the dropper is made of several materials and is sorted separately from the glass bottle.
Concentrated essential oils and products with a high alcohol content can affect the silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the dropper over time. With such contents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the dropper on a single bottle before you fill the whole series.
