Product description
A brown glass dropper bottle is a ready-made set for precise dosing of liquid preparations drop by drop: facial serums, oil blends, active ingredient concentrates or blends with essential oils. Brown glass reduces light exposure and protects contents sensitive to oxidation. The dropper delivers exactly the amount needed, without finger contact with the contents.
The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Why choose this combination
- Light protection – brown glass transmits significantly less light than clear glass. You will appreciate this with vegetable oils, vitamin serums and preparations with essential oils, whose composition changes under the effect of light.
- Chemical resistance of glass – glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol or solvents. It is therefore also suitable for alcohol tinctures and concentrated blends, where a plastic container might soften over time or absorb the scent.
- Precise dosing – the dropper with a silicone bulb and glass tube draws in the contents and releases it drop by drop. This is practical for serums applied in a few drops, as well as for measuring ingredients into your own formulations.
- Appearance – the matte black cap with a glossy stripe looks understated on brown glass and suits products that should look neat on a shelf or in a bathroom without additional decoration.
What the set is suitable for
A volume of 50 ml is suitable for preparations that are used gradually and in small doses. Typically these are facial serums on both water and oil bases, facial and hair oils, oil blends for nail and nail bed care, blends with essential oils for aromatherapy or alcohol tinctures. The dropper handles liquid and slightly viscous contents. With thick serums with a higher proportion of gelling agents or cream textures, the draw slows down and dosing becomes imprecise. For such preparations, a pump dispenser or jar is more suitable.
Filling and volume
When filling, it is useful to distinguish between nominal volume and total volume to the brim. Nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for during normal filling. Total volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which when closed pushes some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Therefore, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is filled all the way to the neck, the contents will overflow through the thread when the dropper is attached and the closure may not seal properly. Specific values for both volumes are listed in the product parameters.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the glass tube of the dropper would get into an anhydrous product and could disrupt its stability.
What is worth knowing
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a plastic cap with a thread. It seals during normal storage in an upright position. When transporting or carrying in a bag, keep the bottle upright or in a separate pouch, as the bulb compressed in the bag can push the contents out. For products you send to customers, verify the seal of the set with the specific formulation in advance.
The bottle has a neck with an 18 mm thread. Closures with the same type of neck and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and container behaviour with your specific formulation.
Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not pour the hot oil phase directly from heating into a cold bottle; let the contents cool to room temperature first.
A standard self-adhesive label adheres well to the smooth surface of brown glass. For oil-based products, choose a label with adhesive resistant to grease, otherwise it may peel off during normal use.
The set as a whole is not intended for food. The food contact certification applies only to the glass bottle individually; the dropper does not have it. For home oils, syrups or herbal extracts, therefore choose a bottle with a closure that has a food contact declaration.
