FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

Is this glass bottle also suitable for products containing oils and active ingredients?

The glass bottle is generally very suitable for oil-based and emulsion cosmetic formulations, because glass is a stable and inert material towards most common ingredients. For formulations with a high content of active ingredients, we recommend performing your own stability test – checking the behavior of the product in the packaging over the course of several weeks, both under normal storage conditions and at a slightly elevated temperature.

Can I reuse this bottle for different products?

The packaging can be reused provided that basic hygiene rules are followed. Before each new filling, the bottle and dispenser must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and subsequently disinfected with a suitable agent, for example with IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol (/ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/ target="_blank") or Ethanol 96% plant-denatured (/etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/ target="_blank"). Only after the disinfectant has completely dried and aired out is the packaging ready for refilling, and for each new type of product we recommend carrying out a compatibility test with both the packaging and the dispenser.

How should I correctly clean and disinfect the glass bottle before further use?

First remove the residues of the original product, rinse the bottle with a suitable cleaning solution and warm water, if necessary with a mild, non-aggressive detergent. After thorough rinsing, it is advisable to use an alcohol-based disinfectant, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol intended for cosmetic production. After applying the disinfectant, let the packaging dry completely and air it for as long as necessary until the residual smell of alcohol disappears. Only then is the bottle ready for refilling.

How should I dispose of or recycle the bottle if I do not wish to use it further?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, it is recommended to recycle it according to the material specified in the product parameters. The glass part of the bottle is usually sorted into the container designated for glass, while the plastic or metal components of the dispenser should be separated before disposal and placed in the appropriate separated waste stream according to local rules. Before recycling, always check the material specification in the parameter table on the product page on Handymade and follow the local waste sorting system in your municipality or city.
