Product description

A glass jar with a capacity of 25 ml and a silver lid is a complete packaging and closure combination designed for thicker cosmetic products that are scooped with a finger or spatula. The transparent glass does not hide the contents, so the customer can see the colour and texture of the cream, balm or mask. The shiny silver lid gives the small container an appearance that works in gift packaging as well as a sample. The set is particularly suitable for face and eye creams, balms, ointments, solid perfumes and samples, where a small amount is enough for several weeks of use.

What the set consists of

  • Glass jar – transparent, with a thicker wall that holds its shape and feels stable in the hand. Glass does not react with the contents, does not absorb scents and can be washed repeatedly.
  • Plastic lid with silver gloss – screw-on closure with an inner foam sealing insert that seats on the neck of the jar and reduces drying out of the contents as well as leakage when inverted.
  • Inner insert made of polypropylene – a white disc that is placed on the surface of the contents under the lid after filling. It protects the product from contact with the closure, reduces air access to the surface and during transport prevents the cream from getting onto the lid.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not approved for food contact.

What it is suitable for

A volume of 25 ml corresponds to the standard size of an eye cream, concentrated face cream or lip and cuticle balm. Transparent glass is an advantage for products whose colour is part of the appearance – coloured balms, clay masks, solid perfumes or cream preparations with pigment. It also works well as a sample container for a larger cream, or as a jar for trial batches during formula development, where it is visible whether the emulsion separates or changes colour.

Transparent glass, however, does not protect the contents from light. The jar is therefore intended for formulations that can tolerate light. Preparations with sensitive active ingredients (vitamin C, retinol, unstabilised essential oils) are better filled into dark glass or stored away from direct light.

The jar is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the container is designed for standard filling. The total volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference serves as a reserve for the inner insert, seating of the lid and slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. When filled to the brim, the product is forced onto the thread when the closure is fitted.

What is good to know

Preparation before first use – it is advisable to wash the jar, lid and insert before use, rinse with clean water and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. All parts must be completely dry before filling; residual water in an anhydrous balm shortens its shelf life.

Filling hot masses – balms and solid perfumes are often poured warm. Glass can withstand the temperature of melted wax, but it may crack with a sudden temperature difference. The jar should therefore not be cold and should not be placed on a cold surface. The lid and insert are fitted only after the contents have cooled and solidified.

Inner insert – it is placed only on solidified or consistent contents. It is not intended for liquid products; the jar with lid is not designed for water-based tonics or thin oils.

Labelling – a label is applied to the cylindrical wall of the jar; a round label on the top surface is suitable for the lid.

Reuse – glass can be washed even at higher temperatures and used again. The lid and insert are washed in warm water with a cleaning agent; it is not recommended to soak the foam sealing insert in the lid for extended periods. When recycling, glass goes with glass, the lid and insert with plastics.

The plastic lid made of ABS is not suitable for prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils and solvents. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, the inner insert protects the closure from direct contact with the contents; even so, we recommend testing a sample and checking whether the lid does not change appearance after a few weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 25 ml glass jar suitable for cream with vitamin C or retinol?
For a cream with vitamin C or retinol, a dark container is more suitable because transparent glass does not protect against light. If you want to use the transparent jar for such ingredients, store it in a box away from light. For ordinary moisturising creams, balms and masks without light-sensitive ingredients, the transparent jar is fully suitable and the advantage is that the customer can see the contents.
How much cream fits into a jar with a nominal volume of 25 ml?
With standard filling, the jar is filled with 25 ml, which is the quantity for which the container is designed. The total volume to the brim is larger, but the difference serves as a reserve for the inner insert and seating of the lid. Filling to the brim causes the product to be forced onto the thread and the lid does not seal.
What is the white insert in the jar for and does it have to be used?
The white polypropylene insert covers the surface of the contents under the lid, limits air access to the product, protects the lid from contamination and during transport prevents smearing of the cream. It does not have to be used. For firmer balms and solid perfumes it can be omitted; for creams and masks we recommend keeping it in.
Can the 25 ml glass jar be used for liquid products such as oils or tonics?
No, the set is intended for thick and semi-solid products. The lid with foam insert seals with standard handling of a cream, but with liquid contents there is a risk of leakage through the thread and the inner insert would not function in a liquid. For oils and tonics, bottles with a dropper or spray are more suitable.
How is the jar prepared before filling a homemade cream?
The jar, lid and insert should be washed, rinsed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. A dry container is especially important for anhydrous balms, where residual water introduces the risk of microbial growth. For water-based creams, the preservation of the formula must be taken into account; the container does not replace it.
Is this set also suitable for homemade food products?
No, the set is declared only for contact with cosmetics. The jar, lid and insert do not have approval for food contact, so it is not recommended to fill them with syrups, edible butters or herbal infusions for internal use.
