Clear Plastic Bottle, White Spray With Glossy Gold Collar, 100 ml

A clear 100 ml PET bottle together with a white mini trigger sprayer with a glossy gold collar makes a ready-to-use set for products applied as a fine mist: facial toners, hydrosols, hair sprays or fabric fresheners. Both parts have a 24/410 neck finish and are matched to each other, so there is no need to look for a suitable closure or to test one. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Clear plastic shows the colour of the contents and how much of them is left in the bottle. The gold collar separates the white sprayer from the body of the bottle, so the finished product needs no further decoration. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate with sprays carried in a handbag, taken on trips or left on the edge of a washbasin.

What the set is suitable for

• Facial toners and hydrosols – thin water-based solutions pass through the sprayer smoothly and the mist spreads over the skin more evenly than a toner applied with the palm.
• Face and body mists – water-based sprays with moisturising active ingredients, or with a fragrance incorporated through a solubiliser.
• Hair sprays – heat protection, moisturising mists for curls or thin leave-in conditioners with a water-like consistency.
• Room sprays and fabric fresheners – water and alcohol blends with a fragrance composition.

How the sprayer dispenses

One press releases approximately 0.12 ml of liquid dispersed into a mist. This amount is enough to refresh the face or to spray a few times into the hair; for a larger area the dose is repeated. The sprayer works best with liquids that have a water-like consistency. Oils, thick emulsions and gels are not dispersed into a mist by the mechanism. Instead, a jet comes out and the nozzle gradually clogs.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between the two is a reserve for the dip tube and the sprayer pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on.

Good to know

• Light – clear packaging does not protect the contents from light. Store hydrosols, essential oils and light-sensitive active ingredients away from direct sunlight, or choose coloured packaging.
• Preparation before the first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry. Pump clean water through the sprayer and then ethanol, to remove production residues from the tube and the pump.
• Preservation – water-based sprays need a preservative system even in a sprayer. A closed mechanism limits contact of the contents with fingers, but the contents are not sterile and air is drawn into the bottle with every press.
• Essential oils and solvents – with a high proportion of essential oils, citrus terpenes or other solvents, check the behaviour of PET and PP with your specific formulation, for example with a test lasting several weeks in the filled packaging.
• Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be used again after washing and disinfection. If the pump loses pressure or sprays unevenly, replace the mechanism.
• Other closures – the bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, so other closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range also fit it. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific contents.
• Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, the sprayer combines PP and aluminium. Before disposal, unscrew the sprayer from the bottle and sort the two parts separately.
