Product description

Aluminium bottle with sprayer for 50 ml of thin liquids, dispensed as a fine spray. The opaque aluminium protects the contents from light, and the bottle is lightweight and does not break if dropped. The white sprayer with a glossy gold collar gives the set a uniform look for both retail and gift packaging.

The set is intended for thin liquids: hydrolates, facial toners, refreshing mists, eaux de parfum and eaux de toilette, hair sprays or alcohol-based solutions. The 50 ml volume corresponds to a travel size and to the samples you carry in a handbag or a sports bag.

What the set includes

  • Aluminium bottle 50 ml – silver, with a 24/410 neck finish. The opaque wall protects light-sensitive contents, for example hydrolates with essential oils or perfume compositions.
  • Mini trigger sprayer – white, with a glossy gold collar and a dip tube that draws the contents from the bottom of the bottle. One press releases approximately 0.12 ml, which is enough for a single application to the face, hair or décolleté area without dripping.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for contact with food.

What it is suitable for

The sprayer is designed for contents with a viscosity close to that of water. It works well for hydrolates, toners and mists with a low proportion of glycerine, for alcohol-based eaux de parfum and for hair sprays without thickeners. A mini trigger sprayer does not disperse thicker serums, gels and more viscous oils evenly, so for such formulations we recommend a different type of closure.

With oils, viscosity is the deciding factor. Very light oils can be sprayed, but with most vegetable oils the spray will not be fine, and the dip tube and nozzle gradually become clogged. Check how it behaves in your specific recipe on a small quantity.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise part of the contents is pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on.

The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it reaches just above the bottom. A tube that is too long bends inside the bottle and the sprayer does not draw the contents.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – before first use, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual moisture would put unnecessary microbial strain on a water-based formulation.
  • Compatibility of the contents – with contents of a markedly acidic or alkaline pH, monitor how the packaging behaves over time, especially the condition of the inner wall and the stability of the colour or fragrance of the contents. Higher concentrations of essential oils or solvents can affect the plastic parts of the sprayer, so a small-batch test applies here as well.
  • Thin-walled aluminium – the bottle may dent under strong pressure or when dropped. This usually does not affect function, but it does affect the appearance of the retail packaging.
  • Opaque wall – the amount of remaining contents is not visible. You can estimate it by the weight of the bottle or by shaking it.
  • Reuse – once the sprayer is empty, rinse it with warm water and spray clean water or ethanol through it several times to clear the nozzle and the dip tube. Once dry, the set can be filled again.
  • Recycling – the aluminium bottle belongs in metal waste. The sprayer combines plastic and metal, so separate it from the bottle before sorting.

The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, so other closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range also fit it. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 50 ml aluminium bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the wall of the aluminium bottle is opaque and no light passes through it. The contents are protected better than in clear glass, which you will appreciate with hydrolates, eaux de parfum and formulations with essential oils, whose fragrance and colour change faster in light. However, the packaging does not replace the stability of the recipe itself, and preservation of water-based contents remains necessary.
Can the aluminium bottle with sprayer be used for oils?
The mini trigger sprayer is designed for thin liquids and sprays most vegetable oils unevenly, more as drops than as a fine mist. Very light oils or oil blends with low viscosity may work, but try them on a small quantity first. For thicker oils, a closure with a dropper or a pump is more suitable.
How much does the 50 ml aluminium bottle hold?
The bottle is designed to be filled with 50 ml, which is its nominal volume. Physically it holds more, and the total brimful volume is given in the parameters. The reserve above the nominal volume is needed for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes, so the bottle is not filled to the brim.
Is the set with the aluminium bottle suitable for alcohol-based contents?
Yes, alcohol-based solutions such as eaux de parfum and eaux de toilette are typical contents of this set. Ethanol is dispensed finely and evenly by the sprayer. With a high proportion of essential oils or other solvents, check before filling a larger batch that the plastic parts of the sprayer do not change shape or function.
How do I clean the aluminium bottle with sprayer before reuse?
Rinse the bottle with warm water, or with a mild cleaning product, and disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Spray clean water and then ethanol through the sprayer several times to clear the nozzle and the dip tube. Let both parts dry completely before filling again, which is important for the microbial cleanliness of water-based formulations.
Why is the level of the contents not visible in the aluminium bottle?
Aluminium is an opaque material, so the remaining amount of contents cannot be seen from the outside. You can estimate it by the weight of the bottle or by shaking it. With the sprayer, bear in mind that the last millilitres below the level of the dip tube can no longer be drawn up.
