Product description

A 500 ml plastic detergent bottle with a push-pull cap is a ready-made combination of container and closure for liquid products that are dispensed by squeezing the bottle: liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo, dishwashing liquid or household cleaners. The bottle is made of clear PET, so it is light, unbreakable and lets you see the contents. The push-pull cap opens by pulling and closes by pushing, without unscrewing, which is practical at the sink, in the shower and while cleaning.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is suitable both for your own soaps and gels and for technical preparations, such as cleaning concentrates or dishwashing products.

Why choose this set

  • One-handed dispensing – pull up the cap, squeeze the bottle and the contents flow out through the opening. Once pushed back down, the opening closes, so the bottle can stand in the shower or by the sink with no worry about spilling.
  • Transparent container – you can see the colour of the product as well as how much is left. With coloured soaps and gels it is also part of the product's appearance.
  • Light and unbreakable material – PET withstands a fall onto the bathroom floor as well as ordinary squeezing when dispensing. For shipping to customers it is lighter than glass.
  • A volume for daily use – 500 ml is a common size for products that are used up quickly, such as shower gel, shampoo or detergent.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the cap and for the air space the bottle needs so that it can be squeezed and so that the contents do not expand against the closure when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What products it is suitable for

The push-pull cap works best with products of liquid to medium-thick consistency that are easy to squeeze out when the bottle is pressed and stop flowing once the pressure is released:

  • liquid hand soaps and shower gels,
  • shampoos and conditioners with a lighter consistency,
  • dishwashing liquids and liquid cleaners,
  • household laundry gels and concentrates in smaller packaging.

Very thin products, for example toners or watery solutions without thickening, may flow out of the open cap on their own when tilted. Thick creams and balms, on the other hand, cannot be squeezed out evenly. For such products a different type of closure is more suitable.

With your own formulation we recommend filling one bottle as a test and checking how the product dispenses, whether it congeals in the opening after the cap is closed and whether the set seals when laid on its side.

What is good to know

Before the first filling, the bottle and cap are washed, disinfected if necessary with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Residual water in the container can promote the growth of microorganisms in products without sufficient preservation.

PET is transparent, so it does not protect the contents from light. Products with essential oils, natural colourants or light-sensitive ingredients may change over time on a sunny windowsill. For these a dark container or storage away from direct light is better.

PET is not intended for aggressive chemicals or concentrated solvents. With cleaners containing a higher proportion of organic solvents or with products high in essential oils, it is advisable to verify how the container behaves with the specific formulation before filling a larger batch.

The bottle can be reused. After emptying, it is rinsed with warm water, the cap is unscrewed and washed separately so that no product residue remains in its inner opening. Hot water is not suitable, as PET can deform at higher temperatures.

The flat surface of the bottle allows a label to be applied. You will find the bottle's dimensions in the parameters.

Caps with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP. Both materials are among the commonly recycled plastics. Before being handed over for recycling, the bottle is emptied and the cap is separated.

Frequently asked questions

Is a plastic bottle with a push-pull cap suitable for liquid soap?
Yes, liquid soap is one of the most typical uses of this set. Soap has a consistency that is easily squeezed out through the cap opening when the bottle is pressed and stops flowing once the pressure is released. With very thin soap without a thickener it is advisable to check whether the product flows out of the open cap on its own when tilted.
How does the push-pull cap work?
The push-pull cap opens by pulling the top part up and closes by pushing it down. The contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle, not by tipping it. The cap is not unscrewed with every use; it is unscrewed only for filling or cleaning. In the closed position it seals, so the bottle can stand in the shower or by the sink.
Can I fill this bottle with dishwashing liquid or a cleaner?
Yes, the set has declared both technical and cosmetic quality and is suitable for common liquid cleaners and detergents. The exceptions are aggressive chemicals and products with a high proportion of organic solvents, which can damage PET. For such products we recommend verifying how the container behaves on a single test bottle.
Does a transparent PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET lets light through. With products containing essential oils, plant extracts or natural colourants, the scent or colour may change over time in direct light. If the product is light-sensitive, it is advisable to choose a dark container or store it away from direct sunlight. For common soaps, gels and detergents a transparent container is fine.
Can a bottle with a push-pull cap be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be reused. After emptying, the bottle is rinsed with warm, not hot, water, and the cap is unscrewed and cleaned separately so that no product residue remains in its opening. Before refilling, both parts are left to dry completely. When repeatedly filling cosmetics, it is recommended to disinfect the container with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol.
