Product description
A glass bottle with a silver dropper, 6 ml, is a ready-made combination of container and closure for products applied drop by drop and in small volumes. It is particularly suitable for samples and testers of serums and facial oils, for concentrated blends for the eye area, for cuticle oils, for perfume oils, or for small doses of active ingredients that customers add to their own cosmetics. The dropper allows you to take exactly as much as needed, without finger contact with the contents and without unnecessary spillage.
The transparent glass keeps the contents visible, so customers can see the colour and remaining volume. Glass is also chemically resistant, does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol-based solutions, and does not allow fragrance components to pass through. The glossy silver ring of the dropper gives the small package a neat appearance that suits gift and presentation sets.
How the set works
The set consists of a glass bottle with the neck type specified in the parameters and a dropper with the same thread, which screws onto the neck. The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb, a metal ring and a plastic insert that seals at the neck. The length of the tube is adapted to the height of the bottle, reaching almost to the bottom, allowing you to draw even the last residues of the contents.
Dispensing is simple: squeezing the bulb draws in the contents, releasing it dispenses drop by drop. The drop size depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the product; with thicker oils, drops are larger and slower. We therefore recommend testing the number of drops per dose with your specific formulation rather than using universal conversion values.
Nominal and total volume
When filling, it is important to distinguish between the nominal volume and the brim volume. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces some volume when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume. If filled to the brim, the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the dropper is attached, contaminating the thread and reducing the seal.
For small bottles, it has proven effective to fill with a dropper or a small measuring tool with a thin tip. With a 6 ml bottle, the difference between correct and overfilled packaging is only a fraction of a millilitre, so it is worth checking the volume on the first units and then filling consistently.
Suitable for products such as
- Samples and testers of serums and oils – a small volume is sufficient for several applications, allowing customers to try the product before purchasing a larger size.
- Concentrated facial serums – especially oil-based serums and blends of active ingredients dosed one or two drops at a time.
- Cuticle and lash oils – the dropper allows precise application of a small amount to the target area.
- Perfume oils and fragrance blends – glass does not absorb fragrance components and the transparency reveals the colour of the composition.
- Dosed active ingredients for DIY cosmetics – such as essential oils or oil extracts that customers add drop by drop to a cream or mask.
What is good to know
Transparent glass does not protect against light. Products sensitive to light and oxidation, such as oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or certain vitamins, should be stored in the dark or in a box. For long-term packaging of such blends, dark or blue glass is more suitable; the transparent bottle is appropriate for stable contents and samples with quick consumption.
Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing both the bottle and the dropper, disinfecting them and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or at the bottom of the bottle would introduce moisture into an anhydrous oil.
Water-based and alcohol-based contents. Both the glass and the dropper tube are resistant to water, alcohol and oils. For water-based products that come into contact with the tube and air with each use, adequate preservation is required; the dropper itself does not ensure microbiological stability.
Bulb and essential oils. With concentrated essential oils or citrus essential oils, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the silicone bulb in the finished formulation, especially if the product is intended to remain in the packaging for an extended period.
Reuse and labelling. The set can be reused after washing and disinfection. A narrow wrap-around label or a neck tag suits the small bottle surface.
Recycling. The bottle is made of glass and belongs in glass waste. The dropper combines glass, silicone, aluminium and plastic and should be sorted separately according to local rules.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for filling food products, herbal infusions or oils for consumption.
