Product description
Glass bottle, vial, 28 mm, black low cap, 100 ml
A ready-made set consisting of a brown glass vial-type bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a black low plastic screw cap protects the contents from light while sealing them securely. The bottle and cap share the same neck type, so they fit together without any trial and error. The set is ready for immediate filling with vegetable and massage oils, tinctures, hydrolats, tonics or liquid concentrates for home cosmetics.
Brown glass reduces light transmission, which slows the oxidation of oils and the fading of coloured extracts. Glass is also chemically non-reactive, so it does not affect the scent or composition of the contents and can withstand alcoholic and essential oil components, which can damage plastic containers over time. The low cap gives the bottle a simple, understated look and is easy to work with during filling and everyday use.
Key benefits
- Light protection – brown glass reduces light penetration, keeping oxidation-sensitive contents in good condition for longer.
- Material durability – glass does not absorb scents or dyes and can be washed and disinfected repeatedly.
- Complete packaging – bottle and cap with matching thread, ready for immediate filling.
- Suitable for cosmetics and food – both the bottle and cap are declared for contact with cosmetic products and both hold food-contact certification, so the set as a whole is approved for food use as well.
- Practical volume – 100 ml is a standard size for tonics, body oils, tinctures and handmade gift packaging.
What the set is suitable for
The set is intended primarily for liquid and slightly viscous contents dispensed by pouring or measuring. It works well for massage and facial oils, herbal oil macerates, hydrolats, tonics, mouth rinses, tinctures or concentrates for dilution. Thanks to the food-grade suitability of the entire set, it can also be used for home-infused oils, vinegars, syrups and herbal extracts.
The narrow-necked bottle is not suitable for thick creams and butters. The contents are difficult to get out and even harder to clean from the container. Jars or pots with a wide opening are more suitable for these textures.
The cap screws on and off easily, making the set suitable for situations where you want to close the bottle without a dispensing element. If you need precise drop-by-drop dosing or spraying, caps with the same neck type and ready-made bottle and cap combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal and the cap's behaviour with the specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
For every container we distinguish two figures. Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed for normal filling, and this is also stated on the product label. Total brim-fill volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is a margin for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise there is a risk of overflow when screwing on the cap or leakage when the contents are heated. Exact values for both volumes are listed in the product specifications.
When filling oils and alcoholic solutions, leave an air gap above the fill level. The contents expand at higher temperatures and a container filled to the brim could overflow when closing or put pressure on the cap.
Good to know
Before first use, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and the cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water could spoil anhydrous oil-based contents or promote the growth of micro-organisms in water-based products. Glass withstands repeated washing and higher temperatures. With the plastic cap, stick to normal water temperature and avoid prolonged direct contact with concentrated essential oils, which can attack plastics over time.
The set is suitable for repeated use. After emptying, simply wash and disinfect the bottle and it can serve another batch. When changing the contents, for example from a fragrance oil to a hydrolat, we recommend more thorough cleaning to prevent the scent of the previous contents from transferring.
With glass bottles, expect greater weight compared to plastic, which will be reflected in shipping costs and when packaging larger orders. Glass is also fragile; when shipping finished products, the bottles must be wrapped or separated with padding.
Dimensions for the label are listed in the product specifications. Self-adhesive labels stick well to the cylindrical part of the bottle. For oil-based products, we recommend wiping the surface before applying the label to ensure it adheres. Glass and the plastic cap are both recyclable, but each belongs to a different material stream, so separate them before disposal.
Tighten the cap by hand with reasonable force. Over-tightening will not reinforce the thread but can deform the plastic and reduce the seal in future use.
