Product description
A brown glass bottle (dropper bottle) with a nominal volume of 15 ml is a small container for cosmetic products dispensed in drops or small amounts. It is suitable for serums, facial oils, essential oil blends, or tinctures. Brown glass filters light, thereby protecting ingredients that degrade more quickly when exposed to light, such as vegetable oils prone to oxidation or certain active substances.
Glass does not react with its contents and does not allow air or fragrance to pass through. The dropper bottle is therefore suitable for oil-based, water-based, and alcohol-based products. Suitability for contact with cosmetic products is confirmed by the declaration listed in the product parameters.
What the dropper bottle is suitable for
A volume of 15 ml is suitable for products that are used slowly or produced in small batches:
- Facial serums and oil blends – a small container is used up before the contents have time to oxidise.
- Essential oils and their blends – glass resists essential oils, which can gradually degrade certain plastics.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – glass is resistant to ethanol.
- Samples and test batches – a practical size for trial formulations, customer samples, or travel packaging.
Nominal and total volume
Two volumes are stated for containers. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the closure, the dropper tube or pump, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will spill over the neck after fitting the dropper or pump, soiling the thread and the label.
Closure and neck
The bottle is supplied without a closure. Closures with the same neck type (listed in the parameters) and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying tightness and dosing with the specific formulation. A thicker oil, for example, is dispensed differently from a thin aqueous solution.
What is good to know before filling
- Preparation – before filling for the first time, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let it dry completely. Traces of water in the container shorten the stability of anhydrous products and strain the preservation of aqueous ones.
- Labelling – the cylindrical shape allows a label to be applied smoothly; the dimensions needed for label design are in the parameters. Degrease the glass surface before applying the label so it adheres even when in contact with oil.
- Reuse – before the next filling, check that the neck is not chipped and the glass is not cracked.
- Recycling – glass is fully recyclable; the closure should be removed before disposal.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not fill hot contents into a cold bottle, and do not rinse a washed bottle alternately with hot and cold water, as it may crack.
